You described all recent stuff, the attacks on the children especially Bristol were vicious from 2008, Bristol could either stand up for herself, or let the media destroy her and her future.
Bristol has used the media attacks to turn herself into a spokeswoman for conservative causes, that is a good thing.

They attacked her over attending more than one college.
A "comediene" advocated for Sarah Palin to be sexually assaulted.
A late night talk show host made an extremely vile sexual comment about the Palin's youngest daughter.
The eneMedia assigned (IIRC) 17 reporters to "fact check" her book.
She's had teams of lawyers sifting through her garbage bags in their desperation to find negative material.
She's been through all of this and the media is fuming while she's smiling.
Could you deal with all of it so gracefully?
