Excellent! Bring this to the US.

Watch out what you wish for. Anyone can be accused of a crime. There's a concept here known as due process, and you can't deprive someone of home and property without it. One of the Dem's favorite dirty tricks is to accuse their opponents of crimes, smear them in the press, them quietly drop the charges later. If they could get you thrown out in the street, too, I'm sure they'd do it.

Understand, I'm not being soft on crime and I don't like welfare sponges. If this yob did the crime, prosecute and jail him for it. If his mom broke the law, do the same to her. Throw them in jail, not out on the street...

I see where you’re coming from, but these days welfare is being used as an enabling springboard for criminals to live a life of self indulgence and crime, while living off of the taxpayers they terrorize. Obviously there is need for reform and while you worry about liberals using this as a means to confiscate property, this is about WELFARE, not personal property being yanked. These looters were caught and convicted, not just accused. They have been living off of the taxpayer and they have destroyed people’s livlihoods and have also destroyed the job opportunities that might have sprung up.

Many people on welfare often do not (or refuse) to understand the value that people place on their businesses and their livlihoods, it’s often just one big joke to them. Long term recipients are quite frankly the least appreciative of the fact that other people take pride in making a living and take pride in getting up before noon each day. If welfare recipients have their beenfits stripped form them if they commit a crime, or their families suffer along with them, you will see a HUGE drop in criminal activity among welfare recipients.

And speaking during a visit to riot-hit businesses in Manchester, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg made it clear that it was right that local authorities should consider evicting the families of vandals and looters.

He said: ‘If you go out and trash other people’s houses, you burn cars, you loot and smash up shops - in other words, if you show absolutely no sense of respect to your own community - then, of course, questions need to be asked whether the community should support you in living in that community.

‘I think that is a perfectly fair question to ask, but how you apply it needs to be done in a case-by-case way.

‘The principle that if you are getting some support from the community, you are going to have to show some loyalty to that community is a really, really important one.’

Earlier this week a petition calling for the thieves to lose all their welfare handouts became the first to be passed to Parliament under a new scheme.

It gathered more than 100,000 signatures – the threshold to trigger a Commons debate. The petition received so much web traffic that it crashed under the strain.
