Suspected looter and his mother are the first to be punished with eviction

A suspected looter in this week’s riots and his mother are being thrown out of their council home.

In the first case of its kind, Daniel Sartain-Clarke, 18, and his mother have been served with an eviction notice as council bosses seek to turf them out of their £225,000 taxpayer-subsidised flat.

Sartain-Clarke is charged with violent disorder and attempting to steal electronic goods from the Currys store at Clapham Junction, South London, on Monday night.

Maybe these “good kids” with “bright futures” should have thought that there might be some consequences for their criminal behavior. Maybe being moved to a meager 100K pound flat would be punishment enough. But then where will they put their looted flat screen TVs? I love the comment how if you evict them, that they’ll HAVE to turn to crime. Uh, they were living in a very expensive “free” apartment and they STILL turned to crime. Completely empty threat.

Excellent! Bring this to the US.

Watch out what you wish for. Anyone can be accused of a crime. There's a concept here known as due process, and you can't deprive someone of home and property without it. One of the Dem's favorite dirty tricks is to accuse their opponents of crimes, smear them in the press, them quietly drop the charges later. If they could get you thrown out in the street, too, I'm sure they'd do it.

Understand, I'm not being soft on crime and I don't like welfare sponges. If this yob did the crime, prosecute and jail him for it. If his mom broke the law, do the same to her. Throw them in jail, not out on the street...

I look forward to seeing these idiots rot in the streets, where they belong. Let the little miscreants lose what enabled them to sit idle the entire time anyway, right? They deserve to be stripped of their homes since they have also made Britain look weak in the face of the world and even jeapordized the London Olympics in 2012.

It would sure be nice if the English would translate their news articles for us Americans. One day I will travel to London to learn English. It would be nice to hear it spoken properly.

For now, good on ‘em for giving those bums the boot!

Heck. Don't worry. These twits will show up in some shelter and then qualify for British public housing somewhere else. Then chance of them dying in the streets is zilch. Zilch, I tell you...

They’re lucky the Queen is merciful. At one point in Britain’s history the kid would have been hung as a thief...

Funny how these libs always pose with the hollow, needy look. Sad, drawn faces for the camera!

This is the whole problem. Kings and Queens are supposed to instill a sense of fear and respect in their subjects. That ain't a happenin' these days.

They don’t appear to live in an “estate” but, rather, a very fashionable condo apartment that the government either owns or rents from the owner. It appears they had it made, but were such lowlifes, they just couldn’t resist a life of petty crime.

A friend of mine, originally from Scotland, tells me that these English “welfare” folks also get a gov’t paid vacation to Florida every once in awhile....no kidding!

I see where you’re coming from, but these days welfare is being used as an enabling springboard for criminals to live a life of self indulgence and crime, while living off of the taxpayers they terrorize. Obviously there is need for reform and while you worry about liberals using this as a means to confiscate property, this is about WELFARE, not personal property being yanked. These looters were caught and convicted, not just accused. They have been living off of the taxpayer and they have destroyed people’s livlihoods and have also destroyed the job opportunities that might have sprung up.

Many people on welfare often do not (or refuse) to understand the value that people place on their businesses and their livlihoods, it’s often just one big joke to them. Long term recipients are quite frankly the least appreciative of the fact that other people take pride in making a living and take pride in getting up before noon each day. If welfare recipients have their beenfits stripped form them if they commit a crime, or their families suffer along with them, you will see a HUGE drop in criminal activity among welfare recipients.

The Queen has no power anymore, she is purely ornamental.

Seeing is believing. Sounds like a little photo-op for the press and then back to business as usual. I can’t see the socialist social workers union bureaucrats allowing a poor misunderstood woman being tossed starving and nearly naked to the wolves in the streets. Not going to happen.

“It would sure be nice if the English would translate their news articles for us Americans.”

Maybe this will help:

Council home = Public housing (Much more prevalent in the UK than US)
Council boss/leader = Public housing administrator
Flat = Apartment
Magistrate = Judge
