PACIFICA -- A pregnant Pacifica woman was found dead by her husband today after an apparent attack by a family pit bull, police said.
The 32-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was killed in her home on the 500 block of Reina del Mar, said Capt. Dave Bertini, a Pacifica police spokesman.
The woman's husband told police that he had arrived home from work around noon and found one of the couple's two pit bulls standing over his wife's body. He was able to get the dog into the backyard before police arrived a few moments later.
Attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the investigation was under way, Bertini said, the dog got loose from the yard and charged at officers who were stationed outside. They fired three shots at the pit bull, killing it.

Repeat after me... Pits aren’t an evil breed...
Has a chihuahua ever done the same kind of thing??
“We just can’t understand it...Rolfie has always been such a sweet dog. He would never hurt a soul...”
Never own a dog whose ass you can’t kick.
Excellent advice. And, the dog needs to understand that.
I know a few chihuahuas that would....if they could. :)
nope.
but if you say anything bad about pits, you’ll get bitten.

Story: My wife or daughter can open the back door and call the dog (who is snoozing in front of the fireplace) and say, Joe! Outside!, and Joe stays in his bed and looks at me, I just point to the door, he gets up, stretches, and goes out. Drives my girls nuts.

My 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren and my daughter’s standard poodle were attacked last weekend in a public park in NY. The park is a popular place to walk your dog, and your dog is allowed to be off leash if it has passed an obedience test and holds a special license.
The grandchildren were ahead of my daughters. A man and 2 dogs came toward them. His dogs — a pit bull and a boxer — were off leash and roaming way ahead of him. The dogs had no off leash licenses. His dogs ignored my grandchildren and raced right towards the 20 month old standard poodle. The boxer stood back and the pit bull charged the poodle, slamming him in the chest, while my daughter was holding him on the leash close to her. He put his teeth on Rusty’s neck while my daughter screamed at both to dog and the man.
The man said his dog was just “playing” (there was no sniffing or play bows — just a sudden charge). My daughter said “That is NOT playing. Get your dog under control, or get out of here.”
The man left in a huff saying that my daughter had “spoiled his experience in this dog park.” My daughter responded, “This is NOT a dog park. This is a public park where people walk their dogs. Your dogs are not under control and do NOT have a license for this park.”
Luckily nobody was hurt, but that man doesn’t know how fortunate he is. He encountered my 2 daughters and threatened a dog belonging to one of them. My daughters are the closest human comparisons to pit bulls had their children, or their pets, been threatened. They are both mama grizzlies.
My dogs know I’m the top dog, so we don’t have that sort of argument. But, they’re middle-sized to small, so it’s not as much an issue.
I love dogs, but you’re not doing any one any favors if you don’t give them security and discipline.
Had a friend who has a dog like that. Wouldn’t listen to his wife, but sure listened to him. Course the wife really didn’t take care of that dog either.

Also: “There are no bad dogs, just dead owners.”
Something like that . . .
LOL, he’s with us in spirit.
If you count attacks/bites, chihuahuas are very bad. Statistically, the worst biters are chow-chows.
What this looks like is bad pack power structure, with the wife not carrying enough authority.
Eh? Lock your wife and dog in the trunk, drive around town a bit, then open the trunk. Which one is happy to see you?
Dreadful. RIP.
