While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.
"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.
Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."
Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.
(see below for supposed confirmation)

I did hear about that tweet and I asked others about it and tried to google about it but got no answer either way.
What’s the other thread. I want to read it.
If it’s true, it’s significant.
Perry/Rubio = Landslide
However, IMHO it is not disqualifying nor does it remotely fall into the realm of Romneycare.
By the way, I still await an answer to my one, simple question - what is your backup plan ...
Ah yes, another pretend Palin supporter, that hates Perry and Bush, with a noobie sign up date......dudette, give it up.
If he becomes President Perry, maybe we can get him to pick a peck of pickled peppers from Moochell’s sludge garden.
Perry/ Rubio= Landslide!
Pretty good thinking.........
Now We have a Race !
LOL!! Amnesty King...no
Mine, too! And, please God, let this be the last we hear from him!
From a purely mercenary point of view, if Perry picks Allen West or Herman Cain as his VP, then the election is won.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Wont make a whit of difference, if the object of making such a choice is to get more of the black vote.
I did not say “get out the black vote”. My point is that black democrats may stay home and not vote. Many liberals here in Chapel Hill are planning on sitting 2012 out. It is a passive aggressive thing.
Obama will garner 92-95% of the black vote in 2012, if not more. It wouldnt matter if BOTH the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates were to be black. Wont help the Pubbies at all, beyond 1 or 2 percentage points (of the black vote).
Of those who vote.
If you truly believe otherwise, youre a fool.
Name calling is against the rules at FR.
Having a black on the Republican ticket will probably HURT the Republicans chances. Im going to say it and take my lumps, but Euro-Americans whose votes will make the difference in 2012 have had enough of blacks on the ticket for now. They will vote for the ticket thats most like themselves. Theyve seen how voting black worked out for them, and for the country.
I disagree.
How much will it help the Republicans if they pick up a couple of percent of the black vote, but lose numerous points more of the white vote (which means more)?
If this was valid, Obama would never have been nominated or elected.
Black Republicans are seen amongst _most blacks_ as traitors to their race and as Uncle Toms. If you dont believe that, give Clarence Thomas a call....
Just sayin...
Whatever...
Agent P - now there’s a candidate!!!
He does NOT have this Texan’s vote unless it’s down to him and the usurper. I’m tired of voting for the RINO twice. Got my new tagline ready to go if he sticks it out that long.
Im not saying I wouldn’t vote for him if he has the momentum...heck, I voted for McCain as much as it gave me acid indigestion...just saying that a perry is probably most folks 5 or 6th choice...also, he is a lot more conservative the months leading up to an election.
Well it saw a bigger hit. But, like I said, he made tough decisions. I just wasn’t overly excited about it due to job worries....BUT, IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. It needed done.
Most of the state budget is education, so it has to get cut quite a bit. They cut many wasteful programs, which is good.
I expect he will do just fine without your support along with the other couple of dozen Perry bashers here on FR....so don’t fret my friend.....
If Perry is the GOP nominee he has my vote, as does any other candidate currently seeking the GOP nominee. As far as I can tell, Obama will be the only anti-American candidate on the ticket.
