“The Governor did not pull an end run against the Legislature, he exercised authority that they had delegated to him.
The Legislature gave the authority to the Executive Branch. The Governor is the Executive Officer, he appoints and runs the Exec. Branch. He gave an order to the Director of the Department of State Health Services.”
I am familiar with all of that, and in fact support vaccinantion for HPV. Here is what you are missing. The people are fed up with being ordered around by their government, state and federal, local and judicial, by executive order. Just like the TTC, there was only an appearance od public input, and people are protective of their daughters. People hate toll roads. Yet these things were done against the popular will of the people. The process of public discussion and input was circumvented for “their own good”. They were treated like children. And they don’t like it!
Please just think this over.
March 30 of this year, I told the House Transportation Committee to remember who sent them there and why. I also reminded them that they’d want our help next spring. (There’s video.

I’ve tried to prevent the opt out and the too-strict requirements for opting out, over and over at the Texas Medical Association and the Capitol. Just one of the reasons I’ve never been appointed to a Committee at the TMA. (Mostly, it’s my pro- life/abstinence stand, though.)
