At a townhall style meeting in Mason City Iowa, Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron asked Texas Rep. Ron Paul about fellow Lonestar Republican Rick Perry's potential entrance into the race for the GOP presidential nomination.
The three-time presidential candidate blasted the Texas governor as few Republicans ever have.
"He will just further dilute the establishment vote," Paul said. "You know he's part of the status quo. I don't know of a view that he has that is different than the previous administrations and his record as governor does not show him as a standout as actually being a conservative. He actually was the chairman for Al Gore at one time not too many years ago."
Perry has yet to declare his candidacy but is reportedly leaning toward entering the race. He gives a speech to conservative bloggers in the first-in-the-south primary state of South Carolina on Saturday before heading to Iowa on Sunday. Perry also has a trip to New Hampshire planned next week.

Rick Perry is an Establishment Republican who is not part of the Tea Part movement. A Rick Perry presidency would undermine the goals of the Tea Party. He would not take risks and he would not fight hard for our issues. It would be business as usual and politics as usual. The movement would stall and could die.
Perry is an opportunist and a fake who would love to steal the Tea Party vote. Please don't be fooled by him.
I urge all Tea Party members to soundly reject Rick Perry and to support one of the true Tea Party candidates: Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann or Sarah Palin if she runs.

You kind of lost all credibility by quoting (and supporting) Ron Paul...
Lashing out, ROFLOL. Fox news is a joke.
Ron Paul is a kook and speaks ill of Perry.
Palin isn’t a kook and speaks highly of Perry.
Yeah, that’s a hard one to figure out.
“You kind of lost all credibility by quoting (and supporting) Ron Paul...”
Not if you believe 911 was an inside job.
Fixed it.
Ron Paul is a loon. I can only imagine what kind of people send this nut to Congress.
I would not piss on Ron Paul if he was on fire. He’s disgusting.
Perry is not perfect but take a look at the lobbying proceeds Ron Paul has taken in since his stints in Congress. Do as I say, not as I do. That's Paul IMO.
Has Paul ever sponsored a successful bill?
“Palin isnt a kook and speaks highly of Perry.”
Exactly! And we need the Establishment on board if we are going to defeat Obama. We have got to combine the resources of the entire GOP and have a united front against Obama.
Gov. Perry is, IMO, the best chance we have of defeating Obama. We have got to stop the GOP civil war and have a united front!
Lashing out, ROFLOL. Fox news is a joke.
“Has Paul ever sponsored a successful bill?”
Has Paul every sponsored a successful bill that sucked?
I’ll take a Paul’s voting/policy position record over Perry any day.
Perry = Amnesty
Then, why do polls show Perry doing better among Tea Party members than any other candidate?
Since when does kooky Ron Paul get to decide who is establishment and who isn't?
Ron Paul is 100% pro-life.
9/11 was Mossad (Jews). Rick Perry is a Bilderberger (Jews). Everything is connected.
Ron Paul is wrong, again.
I turned my back on him at the straw poll in Dallas. Watched him shake with some sort of over-blown emotion at a Republican Assembly in Austin. All as he tells us that President Bush and VP Dick Cheney are murderers and we should “march right out of Iraq the way we marched in.”
How, Ron, under fire?
Ron Paul is a lifetime Libertarian Party member:
“The Libertarian Party Candidate admonished me for remaining neutral in the presidential race and not stating whom I will vote for in November. Its true; I have done exactly that due to my respect and friendship and support from both the Constitution and Libertarian Party members. I remain a lifetime member of the Libertarian Party and Im a ten-term Republican Congressman. It is not against the law to participate in more than one political party. Chuck Baldwin has been a friend and was an active supporter in the presidential campaign.”

He joined with the anarchists in 2008, he sides with the Libertarian party on marriage and on abortion.http://townhall.com/columnists/anncoulter/2011/06/15/get_rid_of_government-but_first_make_me_president! He’s voted against bans on abortion in military hospitals.
Rick Perry never has and never will do any of these.

Asked about Perry, Meckler struck an altogether different tone and said that the three-term governor "changes the equation" of the GOP field.
"You hear all across the country nowadays that Texas created about half the jobs in the U.S. in the last couple of years, and so I think you've got the Texas miracle going on while a lot of the rest of the country seems to be sinking," he said. "And in a time of economic strife, I think that's potentially a game-changer for him to enter the fray."
Ron Paul a “true Tea Party” candidate? Really? He tried to jump on the band wagon and holds on tight to the coat tails.
