When the coffins of the fallen Navy SEALS came back to US soil, the Pentagon and the White House closed the event to the press. That's understandable. After all, the Bush administration made similar restrictions for such ceremonies, although Obama overturned the policy. The press complied as well, but when the White House released a photo yesterday of President Obama saluting the coffins at the ceremony, they raised their eyebrows. When Associated Press reporter Ben Feller asked about the photo today at the White House Press briefing, Carney answered:

Why have a photo at all, unless you wanted the political use of it?

It’s all so sick.
That picture of him with the fly on his face. Spoke to me as soon as I saw it: embodiment of evil.

Tha man has never served a day in the military, but it would seem like his observations of real military men like the Marines who salute him every time he loads up to go on vacation would have given him some idea of how it is done.
Irregardless of this he should have been standing like the rest of those in the picture, with his hand over his heart.
IMO he doesnt deserve to be giving a salute to these men, who died honorably in battle.

The picture's fuzzy enough that you can't see the booger Zero just hauled out of his nose with his thumb.
Why is the apparent military man on the left not saluting? Or is that a chauffer's hat he's wearing? Yes, that'd be the company Barackalypse Now would prefer.
The others to 0Bambi's left were simply simultaneously answering the question, "Which way did the ice cream guy go?" and pointing to their left.
With this level of control, how do we know there were any "transfer cases" to be saluted? Could the White Hut have just staged the whole thing with this amount of "evidence?" This clearly is their best photo for their purposes. What lame idiot couldn't have gotten a better shot? Surely their radical Left friends appreciate a little "taqqiyah" for the good of their cause! The WH language would seem to protest too much.
Was anyone drawn to the Hindenburg disaster story by a picture of a guy holding a microphone at the site just moments before the Zeppelin caught fire but with nothing else of signifcance in the frame? No, that would've been purposely misrepresenting the seriousness of the story by showing something vacuous. Aha!

Everything about this is indeed disgusting.
Several items (SPOT) come into question.
- The mission; heard that the Rangers didn't call for relief. They weren't being overrun.
- The method of transport; Poorly chosen for the movement of such a large number of DEVGRU.
- The mingling of DEVGRU with Afghani troops. That's mind boggling, most likely unprecedented.
- Orders; Petraeus ain't over there anymore; it's highly doubtful that he would have authorized the insertion of DEVGRU for a "rescue mission". Air strikes, yes; reinforcements by the Rangers, yes; DEVGRU, no.
- Identifying the unit as SEAL Team 6 as well as its strength is wrong; making this a photo op to be issued to the press by the White House is wrong; releasing the identities of the lost members of DEVGRU to any other than their families is wrong.
- Everything is wrong with this picture.
News this morning is that the Taliban who did the deed were wiped out......pay back so suck it up and continue the program....but I'm calling 'no joy'. Disgusting is as close as we'll come, JJ.

Pres Bush was also known to sneak over here to Fort Hood to visit some of the wounded warriors when he was home. Very Presidential.

The whole chain of events stinks to high heaven, from Obama's self-glorification through Biden's outing of the group to the tragic loss on August 6. I pray to God that the White House will return to American hands next year.

The fact that the only one in uniform is NOT saluting, hints to me that this photo was staged for dramatic affect.
I would not put it past them to have decided to salute on cue of the photographer.

yeah Obama some civilians from his cabinet? and a man that looks to be military not saluting. MY GUESS: They said Obama salute and the first pic sucked as he can’t salute so they took this one to make it look like he did a good full salute maybe.

I am so tired of this mess. I participated in one ramp ceremony in Iraq. It was one of the most solemn, respectful things I have ever been a part of. To politicize it the way this cretin has almost makes me physically sick to my stomach.

And whats with the guy in uniform NOT saluting?
Since that is a commercial airliner, he's quite likely one of the pilots......They're not military.

The liberals demanded that the "no photos of coffins" policy be reversed, only so they could use the photos as a political weapon against Bush.
Obama was free to lift the policy, since he could be absolutely sure that no major media outlets would use the photos to embarrass him in that way.
This "controlled release" is just another example of just how conciliatory and subservient the press is to this Administration.
