Rolling coverage of the third night of violent disturbances in London, with arson and looting reported at several locations across the capital.

It’s very interesting to read the comments by readers on the British news reports. Most want the police to use water cannons and plastic bullets as a start.
But the Brit police are too emasculated and PC-whipped to even defend their society.
You have to admit. It makes for good TV. A good entertaining riot needs to go on for a few days and you need defenseless victims and impotent law enforcement for that to happen. Throwing in Home Secretary Dolores Umbridge is a bonus I didn’t expect.
this website set off my virus alerts.
The quote from their idiot Home Secretary just really takes the cake. “The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities.”
Apparently this was on a TV program. Someone needs to get that silliness on YouTube.
And to think she occupies a position once held by the likes of Gladstone and Churchill. Such a sad thought.
maybe not the national debt since there are not that many FReepers. But I catch your drift. I'd settle for a nickel for every overreacting FReeper that says civilization is over because of these London riots. Life will go on in spite of Obama and these thugs.
The Daily Mail is a major newspaper, likely a false alarm.
“May I suggest using your nightstick, officer?”
Funny, I was going to say that I expect the same thing if he IS elected again.
Well, I hope at least one of you is wrong...
PRAYER PING RE
SITUATION IN UK
I feel badly for you. I wish this had been dealt with swiftly and forcefully using overwhelming numbers.
"See, I told you so."
LOL!!
Heavenly Father,
We ask that you put your hand of protection on EnglishCon and his wife. Bless and keep them through this time of unrest. Comfort Mrs. EnglishCon with a spirit of peace. Provide for them as only you can.
In Christ’s Holy name we pray.
Amen
Thanks. We are. The police cannot protect us, through no fault of their own, so we will. I do want to stress that - the police have simply been overwhelmed. It isn’t incompetance, fear, or bad leadership. Just being outnumbered, with the mobs being able to organise and move faster.
It’s a fairly old neighborhood, unusually friendly for the city, with a surprising number of vets (with the usual number of questionable “souveniers”) and a lot of rather burly builders. No one has gone to work today. Homes come first.
Our local shops, the doctor and the pub got the word from the police to shut about an hour ago - they refuse to close, as many of the older members of the community depend on them. The main local shop and the pub have organised people, meaning a lot of very annoyed guys hanging around, escorting the elderly and checking on them, drinking the odd free beer and waiting for some bunch of kids to try something.
It’s getting a little bit pressured here. People are nervous, and, to be honest, scared. This is stuff you see in a distant country, not in your back yard. But those scumbags are not going to win. This is OUR home. Not theirs to ruin.
I am just seeing this. I am so sorry. My prayers for you and all of your neighborhood. This is so senseless.
Are the Amish at it again in England?
Good on ya, mate! as your Aussie cousins might say.
Seriously, good work there, good luck and be safe.
I wish you were all armed! Godspeed and come together to save your nation.
