What I want to know is.... WHY did Boehner, the House Leadership, and “The Great” McConnell, stop talking and pushing the CCB that was “PASSED” by one part of Congress?

Why are they NOT BLAMING the Democrats at every chance and opportunity they get?

They are WIMPS of the first order!

They are AFRAID to cal a Spade a Spade!

They are AFRAID to go on the ATTACK!

These so-called “Leaders” are nothing more than what we had with BUSH! A guy who couldnt/wouldnt defend himself, and our cause!

Niether Reid nor any of the others will ever learn a lesson from this. Actually, I believe they won’t learn it because they already know it. But because it conflicts with their dream ideology, it must be destroyed.

You are probably correct, but they would counter that there wouldn’t have been a downgrade if the GOP had agreed to tax hikes.

They’re delusional.

They are on the same side. The ruling class. We need to flush the Grand Old Potty and start with fresh tea.

The GOP controlled House passed CCB on July 19. The Dem dominated Senate tabled it on July 22. This is why the House had to go back to square one.

To me, this means that Reid was afraid that CCB was such a good bill that even some Dems might have voted for it and it might have passed. So rather than put it to a vote, they voted not to vote on it.

Don’t attack the GOP and blame them for what the Dems did.

They could still take up this bill. It was ‘tabled’, it can still be brought up for a vote.

That is, if Harry Reid had any sense.

This is where the republicans snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

BUMP your post!

Those are all the same questions I have, and they make me very suspicious. It was almost like the leaders “let” the conservative Republicans (tea partiers, et al) have their say as little more than a symbolic gesture, but never took it seriously themselves.

I remain disgusted with those “leaders” to this day. They should be bringing this up in the media with every other breath they take! Something stinks to high heaven.

Yep. It almost, strike that, it DOES appear, that the House went through all that effort to pass CCB ‘just for show’. The Leaders got to say (for one frickking day), “SEE WE PASSED CCB”, then Reid said “BOO!”, and that was that.

What a bunch of _________!

I am starting to lose respect for the entire leadership bunch, BONER, RYAN, CANTOR, they now look like they TALK a good game, but they are AFRAID to play hardball to force the issue of what they pass. For pete’s sake, at least FIGHT VERBALLY AFTER YOU PASS THE DAMN THING!

Reid called Cut, Cap, and Balance, “the single worst piece of legislation ever to hit the Senate floor”. There is no way he can back off of that irresponsible piece of insane rhetoric. Plus, Ubanga promised to veto the bill if it got to his desk. He would lose face going back on that irresponsible promise.

It was they - - Reid, Obama, and the Democrats - - who caused the S&P downgrade and stock crash, yet they are unified in their talking points that it was all the fault of the Republicans and their tea party wing. The Republicans have the perfect response right in front of their faces but they inexplicably refuse to shout from the rooftops that they PASSED a bill - - Cut, Cap, and Balance - - that likely would have prevented this mess. Instead, they seem content to let the tea partiers take the blame.

It all makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Would you folks kindly review what actually happened?

The House DID pass CCB, quite overwhelmingly. The usual handful of GOP raving liberals voted against it, along with Michelle Bachmann and Ron Paul (who had their individual projects that they didn’t feel were adequately dealt with).

It had to go to the Senate, which then voted to table it rather than discussing it. The vote was 100% of the Dems. The GOP does not have the majority in the Senate and could not have prevented this, since the Dems are obviously terrified of Bambi and vote in a solid bloc.

I think if it had actually somehow gotten to a vote, between the GOP vote and that of a few more rational Dems, it would have passed. But as usual, the way this was prevented was procedural, with the result that it was never brought to a vote on its merits.

We have enough problems on the right without getting the blame for things that the Dems have done.

The Speaker of The House and Mitch McConnel should show up in DC tomorrow, and call every back to reinstate a simular bill, In a presser they could say it is for the Good of the Country’s credit rating.

I agree.

Only "Cut, Cap & Balance" offered $4T in cuts which is what the ratings agencies asked for. It passed the House under Boehner with a bipartisan vote.

The White House mocked it as "duck, dodge and dismantle" and Reid, Mr. Dead-on-Arrival, wouldn't even allow a debate in the Senate and it was tabled on a party-line vote.

Harry Reid: "Over, Done, Dead"

White House: "Duck, Dodge and Dismantle."

Neither Bachmann nor Paul voted for CCB, because they were against raising the debt ceiling! “Individual projects,” my eye!

Boehner, McConnell, and all the RINOs who voted with them are to blame for this. Ryan got himself out of trouble for tarp, but what can he say now? He and the others are backstabbing traitors.

As long as CCB passed the House, once it was sent to the Senate where it was tabled, the Republicans should have done NOTHING! ZERO, ZIP, NADA! The ball was in the Dems court and when they tabled CCB, they basically held onto the ball. THE REPUBLICANS SHOULD HAVE WAITED THEM OUT!

It is the RINOs FAULT!

Why don’t you go back and read the history of CCB?
