$1.5 trillion in deficit-reduction over 10 years
Let's say I've got $30,000 on my Visa card. I've been paying the minimum every month for 5 years. But don't worry! I've got a plan to come up with more money which I can put toward debt reduction -- I'm going to skip buying lattes at Starbucks (at least on Tuesdays).
I don't understand the hatred for the Republicans like Paul Ryan who have put their necks out with specific plans to tackle debt, tackle entitlements rather than focusing on Obama, Reid and the rest.
The saying goes, "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"
I'm starting to think some posters would be attacking soldiers landing at Normandy for not advancing on the Germans fast enough.
They need to be encouraged for taking these stands, they're demonized enough from the Left.
There's important stuff coming up. There's the settling behind a particular Balanced Budget Amendment and pressing ahead with the vote on it.
There's a vote coming to change from the status quo of baseline budgeting (7.5% automatic increases) to zero-based budgeting (every dollar must be justified). Rep Louis Gohmert (R-TX) got a promise from Ryan to pass it out of the budget committee and commitment from Boehner to bring it to the floor.
These votes won't amount to anything if Democrats succeed in divide-and-conquer. They're doing a great job at it. People need to focus on the Democrats' obstructionism the rather than undermining those trying to move your agenda forward.
