You’re speaking as though teachers don’t pay (state) taxes as some sort of justification for lower salaries. They do pay (state) taxes just like everyone else.

Teacher salaries are the same as anyone else’s they are what the market will bear...and that is comming from a retired teacher.Teachers in Texas are amply rewarded for their services and if it’s not enough they can find another gig!!!

Read what I said. Texas does not have a state income tax so none of us pay it...including Texas teachers. They have more take home pay than teachers in states with a state income state that are giving salary with one hand and taking it back in the form of taxes with the other.

Yes we have property taxes in TX...but has zero to do with income tax.

Property taxes in Texas are county or city taxes, not state taxes.
