Note: A Dallas Morning News story run in the Boston Herald. Mitt Romney (Mass)is being very quite about Perry because he doesn't want to upset financial backers that have been holding back. Perry would clean Romney's clock. Romney is hoping that the MSM will let him keep his fingers clean. And Obama's crowd is already gearing up to attack Perry. Well, they have a thing or two to learn about Rick Perry (but probably already know).

The Rick Perry I Know ......"He is an extremely astute politician with a keen sense of where voters are, and he has great instincts on message. Perry has ruthless discipline and communication. They say in politics, “Don’t let your boot off an opponent’s neck till Election Day.” Perry doesn’t take his boot off till a year after the votes have been counted and the opponent has faded into oblivion. He is actually a better campaigner than George W. Bush (Perry’s predecessor as Texas governor) was when he first entered the national scene.".....

……”Perry didn’t have a lot of use for the media — not after two terms as governor — nor did the media have much use for him, as most major papers endorsed his GOP rival in the gubernatorial primary and Democratic rival in the general election.

He further enraged the media when he spoke at a national editorial writers gathering last fall and wouldn’t take questions, prompting the group’s “stunned” president to send Perry a letter accusing of him of “disingenuousness” and going back on his word.

The fact is, Perry was so far ahead that he didn’t need the press, and he romped to a huge win in his reelection bid.”…. Source

Bill Burton, eh? I am happy to have him leading the opposition any day. What an embarrassment to the great state of Texas.

“He has a pretty poor record as governor of Texas on a lot of measures — on wage growth, on job growth, on health care...”

If that is the best they can throw at him, then they ain’t got much. If you want to talk about someone with a poor record on wage growth, job growth and health care, then talk about Obama.

I do not prefer Perry, I prefer Sarah, but if she doesn’t run, Perry may be better than most in the race so far. I still think Bachman has found her high water mark and Romney will fade. I wish Santorum would get a better look. :(

Romney is looking better every day and he doesn’t look very good.

Perry/Palin

It’s going to take two good ones and these two have it all.

They’ve both been dragged through the dirt and still cleaner then what’s in the WH now.

I’m not yet convinced he will run. I think he will, but wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t. I also don’t think he is our best choice by a long shot.

"He has a pretty poor record as governor of Texas on a lot of measures — on wage growth, on job growth, on health care," said Bill Burton, head of a new pro-Obama political action committee

Bill, what are you smoking??? Everybody in the country knows about job growth in Texas except you. You're going to get a can of whoop ass if you pursue this logic.

It seems to me that the Democrats don’t hold a candle to some here on FR in trying to destroy Perry. The so called conservatives eat their own rather well in destroying any credibility candidates may have with those who would have voted for our side.

Your passion for your guy does you credit, but, honestly, the ads with Perry morphing into Bush, with the “remember what happened the LAST time we elected the Governor of Texas?” ads write themselves.

Obama is DYING to run against Bush. A Perry nomination hands him that chance on a silver platter.

Doubleplusungood.

The Dems always try to cast the Republican candidate as “stupid” and their gaffes are paraded on the late night silly shows. How do you think Perry would fare here? Is he at gaffe prone? (We know that Obama is and Biden is way over the top on gaffe-ness, but they get by with it because they are Democrats and excuses are made). It seems that the first thing they always do is try to characterize the candidate as “dumb” and I see they have already begun with the release of Perry’s college transcripts. (Isn’t it illegal to release someone’s transcripts without permission?) Anyway, you seem to have a lot of research and I would welcome your thoughts on this.
