ABC, interesting Alinsky against S&P
I remember when Bush tries to reign in Fannie and Freddie, and the Progressive Left destroyed the notion a bubble was about to burst

Many of us are exactly where you are fish.

None of us will ever pull the lever for ozero.

The trick is to work as hard as we can so we don't have that choice, and now is the time to be working hard.

The problem is that the Pubs don’t control who gets invited; with the exception of Republican president, vice-presidents, and secretaries of State and Defense, no Republican can normally get on one of these shows unless the producers and interviewers want them.

That’s why we never see Inhofe, Sessions, Rubio, or Ryan on anything but Fox. What WOULD help is party discipline, where people like McCain are told to stay off those shows or they will lose committee chairmanships, but so far no GOP leader has wanted to enforce that type of rule.

I considered it a sign that the media is getting nervous about Obama when they allowed Boehner rebuttal time after Obama’s speech.

The author correctly points out that this is a political struggle, not an economic one. We are witnessing the collapse of the welfare state not only here but in Europe. The culture of dependency will fight tooth and nail to keep the welfare state afloat even if it means taxing us to death, evisceraing the military, and imposing an oligarchy to take away our liberties. Mandates like Obamacare are just the tip of the ice berg along with the unelected czars at EPA who dictate our behavior thru Executive Orders.

We have 54 million on SS, 47 million on Medicare, 60 million on Medicaid (and Obamacare will add another 18 million more), and 45 million on food stamps. 47% of the population pays no income tax and 80% of the population pays more in payroll taxes than income taxes. This huge constituency will be more supportive of the Dems in maintaining the status quo. than Reps who wil propose the hard but necessary actions to get us out of this nosedive.

We are right now in the greatest struggle for the survival of this nation since the Civil War. I agree with Bray that the Tea Party is our last best hope of preserving the vision and values of our Founders. This next election is the most important any of us have seen in our lifetimes. We must win if we want real "Hope and Change."

The best way to explain this debt thing is with Dave Ramsey’s example.

A person with a credit card who owes $300,000 in credit card debt on an income of $50,000 per year. He is currently charging an additional $90,000 per year and wants to keep doing so.

These numbers are the same proportion as the debt/income/deficit ratio of our federal government. People can understand these numbers. When you get to billions and trillions they do not register in most people’s comprehension.

Also, we need graphs and charts for visuals with every appearance. Show the escalating debt. Show th increase in joblessness.

Finally, quit allowing people to think that raising taxes on rich people will solve this. Bill Whittle had an excellent video on YouTube (probably still there) which shows that we could confiscate ALL of the wealth (including real estate, art, etc.) of every milllionaire in the country, including buffet, Gates, Hollywood, pro-football players, etc. and it would get us through ONE YEAR. Then who are we going to attack?

That’s exactly right!!! That’s the way to explain it, but the only one on our side pointing it out is Rush. Problem with that is we already know this! It is the McCains, the Grahmnestys, the other guests that need to be drumming it, but they don’t. Also, Palin can put it on Facebook, but that is useless as her audience is the same as Freep, and that’s preaching to the choir. The people needing to drum this are the guests on CNN, NPR, FOX, MSN, etc. Whenever our side is a guest, we need to be lockstep. If we are not, we are toast. This also proves there are those on our side who really are not...that is not just rinos, but are establishment folks who are really dems who want their kingdoms and don’t even realize the unravelling of this country will change their pocketbook, too, so they better do a better job with a camera in their face!

Real funny comedy clip on Crissy with Barack and Michelle being gotten out of bed in the White House.

It was a bright light coming through the door and the impersonators of Dubbya and Clinton coming in.

Clinton comments on Michelle’s legs.

Then Dana Carvey comes in as Bush I, Carter as a handyman fixing something on the wall.

George HW Bush advises Barack to raise taxes, Dubya says that would make him a one termer, HW makes a derogatory comeback regarding his Dubya’s second term and refers to him as “Dubbers”

Then Reagan comes in and gives a shaken Barack some advice.

Reagan referring to “the mess Barack interited” quotes George Washington as once saying to John Adams....”tag....your it”

I guess not if no true pacifist would not hesitate to drop The Bomb on any country that attacked us or tolerated groups who did.

Good post Rich and in a way you are correct.

I would counter that we have the New Media to correct the lies of the DBM but making things simpler for the brainwashed masses to sort out is not a bad idea.

That's why many of us have tried to ratchet the debt ceiling debacle(for example, we do it on other issues as well) down to basic math.

Spend 300 billion a month and only take in 180-200 and you are in trouble.

Even the dumbest of the brainwashed lefties can get reach their crack stained fingers around that one.

The government politicians who have stayed there for years will fight like crazy to retain their positions...and for more reasons then the comforts and power it holds.

I have no doubt our government politicians are used for basically money laundering thru the various mazes of committees and such. Certain politicians will not break their chain that keeps the cash flow moving thru the system established.....which includes side committee's as a sort of holding pattern if the heat gets turned up or discovery is close at hand.

If this government has funneled weapons into Mexico as many believe is more than possible....then moving cash is a cake walk. The “oldster's” are not going to lay down easily but will fight like cobras to protect that revenue flow.

Nancy Pelosi just had her committee cut for being a duplicate of what's already handling the issues she wanted control over........the question is then how much money flowed thru her committee and to whom did it go?...and how many organizations accepted double payments from both committees.

I heard an interesting interview on the radio the other day about how Canada dealt with some of this. For some reason they were able to divorce national debt from partisanship, because numbers are a FACT, not an opinion.

Some of their reforms were started under liberal politicians due to that shift in looking at the debt issue.

They still have problems, but it is not viewed the same way there as it is here, or for that matter, in Europe.

We might make more headway if we explain to some liberals that if the debt overwhelms our economy, there won’t be any money for things like environmental regulation or clean energy. (Please note I roll my eyes as I say this.)

We are dealing with a great many people who have child-like wants, who stomp their feet and cry “I want it NOW!” while the parents are pointing out “We don’t have any money!”

That sentence made absolutely no sense.

I guess I am a war-like pacifist. I’m tired of our troops being over there, especially under this president.

they are just IED fodder (used to be cannon fodder). Nothing changes. Let’s get out of there, develop our own natural resources and let them try to sell their sand.

Have we really made any progress against the terrorists? Not seeing it.

My daughter, who voted for Obama, moved back home in December. She has a masters in library science, student loans (which I did NOT know she took out as she was married at the time), and is unable to find a full-time job so is working two part-time ones.

I have been patiently explaining facts to her, and both Ramsey’s quote and several charts showing debt ratio and per cent of government expenditures on certain programs have really woken her up. She told me she wants someone in office who understands money, and if she has to vote GOP she will do it.

That is why I know those charts and explanations will work.

The American credit rating should have been downgraded during the Clinton years, when the establishment sold the story that as long as the budget was a "surplus", the change in national debt was not important. When we got to 57% National Debt to GDP, we were dysfunctional. Since then, it has only gotten worse. And inevitably, our spending to revenue ratio would lead to a downgrade. The only question now is what took so long.

Since journalism majors are not required to take any math courses (which means no objective evidence that they even know what two plus two equals), and maybe not any economics courses, it means our journalism schools crank out concerned citizens who don't understand a Laffer Curve or Keynesian policies, but who are expected to take spin from political sources, compress it into 30-second sound bites, and present it on the evening news.

I'd rather see Penny on the Big Bang Theory present one of Sheldon's papers to the APA. At least that way the audience would be able to ask questions and realize that she does not have an in-depth understanding of the topic.

So when agenda-driven professional talkers like Rachel Maddow use their own facts to convince themselves that they are rational, let alone correct, it's not surprising that the media just lets the rant continue. They have no way of knowing which part is correct, and which part is nonsense.

That’s interesting that he did that! What is his twiiter account name?

I think we should all FReep him about the choice of guests; namely, that we’re sick to death of the same old repeats and retreads week after week after week. Time for new talent!

My tweet to Gregory would go like this:

“With 535 Representatives and Senators, surely you could put someone on who has never been on, rather than the same old tired faces?”

That’s 131 characters, and Tweets are limited to 140.

Coming in late this am.....watching Pawlenty on Fox, criticizes obama leadership in this latest “debt/budget” crisis.

In a previous Wallace interview with Beers from S&P, my synopsis was his statements about future costs associated with entitlements as one of the most important factors to their downgrade. Anyone else pick up on this?

One thing about the new media: the left is using it as well.

Also, there are millions of Americans who either do not have computers or only use them for email and shopping. They do not read the news on them at all.

Also, there are plenty of younger people who think politics and news is boring, except for presidential politics which they view as American Idol.

New media is a help, but you have to reach all of the rest of the people as well, because they will NOT read the new media, and their votes are just as valuable as ours.

I have always thought we should have a conservative movie magazine which would be in every supermarket stand and beauty shop.
