Did Biden’s Loose Lips Sink a Team 6 Airship?

After Bin Laden was killed, Robert Gates was insistent that nothing be revealed about the unit that accomplished the deed. But one man could not keep his mouth shut: Joe Biden, who credited the SEALs in a speech:

Let me briefly acknowledge tonight’s distinguished honorees. Admiral James Stavridis is a, is the real deal. He can tell you more about and understands the incredible, the phenomenal, the just almost unbelievable capacity of his Navy SEALs and what they did last Sunday.

Further irresponsible leaks from the Obama administration revealed the unit involved, causing the unit members to fear for their safety and that of their families:

The Department of Defense is looking into ways to “pump up the security” for the team of Navy SEALs who helped kill Osama bin Laden after the commandos expressed concern for their safety and the safety of their families, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.

Gates made the comment in response to a question at a town hall meeting at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. A Marine asked what measures were being taken to protect “the identities and the lives” of the SEALs involved in the takedown of bin Laden in Pakistan a week ago, as well as other troops deployed in the region, from the threat of retaliation.

“We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details … I would tell you that when I met with the team last Thursday, they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families,” Gates told the audience.

“Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.”

Gates specifically talked about the fear of potential retaliation:

Gates acknowledged the threat of retaliation against Team 6 and troops deployed in the region.

“There is an awareness that the threat of retaliation is increased because of the attacks – because of the action against bin Laden,” he said.

Today, that retaliation may have come to pass, as a Taliban RPG killed at least 20 members of Team 6, in “the single deadliest incident for U.S. soldiers by far” in the Afghanistan war. The members apparently were not part of the group involved in the raid, we are told (why are we told this? Won’t it keep the jihadis hunting?), and there is no way to know whether this was an orchestrated ambush targeting Team 6. But it is an important reminder why it’s not just comedy relief to have cynical glory-seekers and complete buffoons at the highest levels of

I can hear Obama at Camp David this weekend saying “I told those guys not to kill Osama”.

If this were GWB he would be addressing the Country right now saying how we would not let these Terrorist kill Americans. That we would be hunting them down with even more of a vengeance than before.

JMHO.

Wow, everything is coming unraveled in this administration in one moment. I was sickened to hear about this team being killed. We need to lift up the families in prayer right now!

In view of the above, maybe the title should read:

Biden causes the sinking of the Team 6 Airship: Post-Hoc fallacy?

Yep. And I wonder if the Paks may have revealed key intelligence about the Seals.

Great—I just saw a commercial for an upcoming special on the Military Channel entitled “Secrets of Seal Team 6.”

It was planned. US credit downgrade is the most embarrassing story to happen under a President's watch.

Thank you. Gates is s good man, a true public servant who feels a fierce loyalty and responsibility for his troops. He was the only adult in the room (cabinet wise, not THE situation room).

He must be devastated by this news.

I’m sure he has the common decency and respect for the office not to publish before the current administration is out..but when his book hits the shelves, I’ll be waiting for it.

“You dare downgrade me?”

“The Godfather” movie series washas been on TV last night and today.........

“7.) Q: What is your favorite movie of all time?

A: Obama: “Oh, I think it would have to be “The Godfather.” One and Two. Three not so much. That saga–I love that movie. My favorite scene has to be, the opening scene of the first “Godfather” where, where the caretaker comes in and, you know, Marlon Brando is sitting there and he’s saying “you disrespected me.” You know “and now you want a favor.” It sets the tone for the whole movie. And all hell breaks lose, right? I mean there’s this combination of old world gentility and ritual, with this savagery underneath. It’s all about family. So it is a great movie.”

Democrats have a nasty habit of leaking vital Info against the wishes of people in charge.
I think it was Diane Feinstein that leaked that the police had a shoe print from the ‘Night Stalker Murders”.The police told her not to say anything but she blabbed anyways. It caused Rameriez to dump the shoes in the bay.
They gotta talk. Its all about them afterall.

Exactly what I was thinking. Plus, Plame wasn't actually placed in any danger; thus making the Seal Team 6 fiasco many times worse.

(BTW, wasn't it a Dem, who outed Plame?)

What does Biden or this Administration have to benefit from the death of a SEAL mission when they are already being criticized for not ending the Afghanistan war as Obama promised during his candidacy?

Sorry but I'm not so naive to believe that any battlefield commander would inform the VP of any or all pending missions so that he could "leak the beans" to whatever Afghani he may be dealing with.........Believe what you want but that's just plain silly.

Dems leak left and right all over the place because most of them are chemically impaired most of the time.

Whoever the next prez is, I hope she uses Nixonian methods to plug the leaks.

Jay Rockefeller leaked the existance of a multi-billion-dollar spy satellite program, virtually eliminating it's usefulness.

Senator Pat Leahy has leaked very serious intelligence, in one case at the possible cost of an Egyptian who helped capture the Achille Lauro terrorists. Google Senator Patrick Leahy leaks to find plenty more about Leaky Leahy.

The leaks must be plugged.

The leakers must be silenced.

“have to benefit”

Possibilities:
...repayment of a favor
...a favor for a favor
...a triangulated discussion with either Iran or Pakistan, or....
...the actual strike was made by someone/a country that wants the US to pay its debts, one way or another, especially those debts owed to such a country. Afghanistan was merely the opportunity.

In any event, those men are dead. All that training, experience and valor, at < $40,000 per year salaries. And for some reason, ALL were on 1 helicopter/gunship/Chinook.

Yeah. It’s just what it is.

Just had a conversation with a 24 year old Air Force EM computer guy this afternoon. Quite revealing....they hate zero and when questioned about what his fellow guys think...all of them hate the Democrats...or as he said...if they don’t they don’t say anything...When I mentioned my disdain for Pelosi....he chimed in...can you believe that junket they took and spent 40 grand on booze...I guess he was referring to the Chicago European bid for the Olympics... The interesting part was those young folks are engaged and know what is going on in the world.....contrary to many 24 yr olds who are “hanging out”....
