ANDREW C. McCARTHY Christies Crazies Sharia is not a figment of our imagination.
This sharia-law business is crap . . . and Im tired of dealing with the crazies! So blustered Chris Christie. Bluster is the New Jersey governors default mode. It has certainly served him well. When directed at surly advocates of New Jerseys teachers unions who, after all, deserve it bluster can apparently make a conservative heartthrob out of a pol whose bite is bipartisan moderate, however titillating his bark may be.
The style is so effective that Christie seems to be trying it out on everyone. A few weeks back, a local reporter had the audacity to ask His Honor whether he believes in creationism or evolution a question that seemed more pertinent than impertinent in light of the controversy over whether the former ought to be taught in the schools that the governors 9 million constituents subsidize to the tune of $11 billion annually. Yet his answer was to growl, Thats none of your business.

Maybe this incident might finally open her eyes???
Let’s not lose any drool over Christie.
If this doesn’t sour people on the fat, big mouth
nothing will.
This is why it’s EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to look closely at a candidate, rather that saying OH YEA when he does something right (or in the case of Texas, saying that because Texas has jobs, our governor must make a great president).
Christie, to me, is an ENTERTAINER on the national level, the way he’s taking on the unions is an absolute blast to watch - but he carries a LOT of baggage, and not having a clue about Jihad is a big one. But in New Jersey, he’s getting his hands dirty and doing what needs to be done...so more power to him.
I think Chrisite is sinking fast. His 15 minutes of fame are winding down.
Ann Coulter has lost her mine with respect to this... whatever he is. This is the best New Jersey can do, but is it the best America can do? Check the tagline if you want to know how I feel about CC.
Andrew McCarthy:
“The questions about Governor Christies appointment of Sohail Mohammed and his exertions on behalf of Mohammeds client, Mohammed Qatanani, have nothing to do with either sharia or the all-purpose smear of Islamophobia. They are about the governors judgment. They are about a U.S. attorney with political ambitions pandering to a politically active constituency at the expense of national security and enforcement of the immigration laws. They are about his decision to award a state judgeship to an attorney who was an active and vocal board member of a very troubling Islamist organization and who has a penchant for presuming that perfectly valid anti-terror prosecutions are, instead, anti-Muslim persecutions.
Those questions are not answered by bluster.”
The conservative revolution in NJ has not progressed to the point of being able to be “blustery” about matters of faith.
The politically correction position on the Christian religion in NJ - like Washington, DC - is one of the tail between the legs.
The blusteriest of blustery tread lightly on mooselimbs feelings in NJ, where the State government and the legal environment compliment the communist philosophy and mooselimb leanings of the statists in the Federal government all too well.
NJ is having to muster all of it’s common sense and backbone to just come to terms with arithmetic which tells us that we need to grow a backbone so we can stand up to union thugs to avoid government insolvency. Every time the union negotiators move their hands we wince and blink because most notable figures in NJ history are somehow connected to the mob.
We’re investigating the possibility of allowing non-Democrat men being allowed access to testosterone somewhere down the road, so far we’re just trying the program out with Christie. Forgive us, it’s been a big adjustment. All our government meetings used to occur in private, we’re only used to hearing Governor’s speak before they’re elected, then we never hear from them again.
It’s a good article, but a little long. As far as Ann Coulter, I think she is supporting Christie so she can get invited on to tv and radio shows to debate the host on it.
Andy McCarthy writes great articles, this is one of them.
In case you haven’t noticed Ann is not a lot of FReepers gal any longer........
Politicians show be put under sharia-law to test it out , when they’ve lost enough body parts maybe they’ll smarten up
This article is a bunch of crap.
As I recall, Christie also had no objections to the ground zero mosque.
To me, any candidate for president who doesn’t take the jihadist threat seriously is automatically out of the running.
Andrew McCarthy would do better to cut out a bunch of words and get to the point -—
I had to read to the bottom of page 2 to find this gem—
“”For the record, Sohail Mohammed is not just an attorney. He served as a board member for an Islamist organization, the American Muslim Union, which, as Commentarys Jonathan S. Tobin and terrorism expert Steve Emerson have shown, has a checkered past of rationalizing jihadist attacks and supporting jihadists.
Indeed, when the Holy Land Foundation was shuttered in 2001 for its facilitation of terrorist groups, Mohammed told the Bergen Record that the federal government was unjustly singling out Muslim organizations. Seven years later, a jury convicted several HLF operatives for channeling millions of dollars to Hamas, the terrorist organization that is the Muslim Brotherhoods Palestinian branch. Mohammed also ripped the Justice Departments prosecution of al-Arian as a witch-hunt and a politically motivated indictment. Al-Arian eventually pleaded guilty to a terrorism charge in a case that showed him to be a key operative of the murderous Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization.””
Two observations about Christie:
1) There is no denying that the man can count, and that he is strong and articulate on fiscal issues.
2) There are too many red flags that pop up around him with regard to social and cultural issues, and the number keeps rising.
Ann Coulter’s carrying on about Christie is disappointing. She has become almost silly about it lately, especially in Hannity interviews.
Too bad he didn’t realize his mistake and learn from this. Really too bad.
And I wonder what prompted him in the first place to appoint this judge? What sort of political finagling and lobbying brought this about? I’m certain some muslim groups were involved. What is the muslim population in Joisey? Just sayin’.
