A 75-year-old aviation enthusiast whose plane strayed into restricted airspace during a presidential visit, prompting fighter jets to be scrambled, has brushed off the incident.
Two F-16s intercepted Myrtle Rose's aircraft as she took to the skies over the suburbs of Chicago city on Wednesday afternoon.
The widow told US media she thought the warplanes were just admiring her plane.

They could have scrambled a far cheaper P-51 Mustang.
Even a Brewster Buffalo could have handled the Piper Cub:)
What if she had been flying an ultralight? Would the F-16s still be able to fly after her? LOL!
He and Nasty Pelosi seem to believe the purpose of being in office is to acquire as many frequent-flyer miles as possible on the US taxpayer dime.
And without the IRS going for their share, the way it would happen with an ordinary US citizen.
Wow, quite a history for that airplane!
She’s a 75 year old white woman. She fits the TSA’s profile of a terrorist. I bet she drinks tea, too!

They’d probably have left her alone but she had her turn signal on the whole flight.
Do the math, 2,826 square miles of airspace are restricted around this person during these temporary flight restrictions (TFRs). Will they implement a moving TFR during the "Obamanation" bus tour???
Was this SOP for Bush? Clinton? FDR?
Perhaps the President should receive the restrictions. Why should the entire US respond to his having a friggin’ party?
Either that, or give him his personal Phalanx CIWS system. Despite what he or our military think, he’s not an emperor.
That is not a Piper but a Kitfox Model 2 homebuilt, a very nice aircraft.
Tandem seat Kitfox??
Ha!
I want to know if they did a full body search on this 75 year old woman
No, it'll be a "TRR" (temporary road restrictions). :-)
Side by side seating. It is apparently an exceptionally good flyer and lifts off at 30 miles per hour. The plane is very easy and quick to build in the garage. Model one had fold up wings for trailering but I don’t know if the current models have that capability. About 4500 have been sold. Big numbers for a homebuilt aircraft.
If that’s her I must say she looks pretty good for 75, better than a lot of the Hollywood oldies. I like her pilot too!
