First announced stop on Obama's Midwest bus tour: Iowa By Jamie Klatell - 08/05/11 06:37 PM ET

The first announced stop on President Obama's upcoming bus tour of the Midwest will be in Peosta, Iowa, the White House announced Friday.

"[T]he President and members of his Cabinet will host the White House Rural Economic Forum at Northeast Iowa Community College," a White House statement read. "The Forum will bring together small business owners, private sector leaders, rural organizations and government officials to discuss ideas and initiatives to promote economic growth, accelerate hiring, and spur innovation in rural communities and small towns across the nation."

Obama will embark on a three-day tour from Aug. 15 - 17. The administration said Wednesday that the trip had long been planned, but did not outline an itinerary beyond saying the stops would be in the Midwest.

The president will be in Iowa only days after the Ames Straw Poll, which is the generally seen as the first big test for the field of Republican hopefuls looking to challenge Obama in 2012.

The White House is billing the bus trip as an administration event, and it will run the operation, not Obama’s reelection campaign.

“He looks forward to talking to the folks about growing the economy, creating jobs,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney at Wednesday’s press briefing.

Oh, it's that kind of "jobs tour."

Nothing is ever what these people say it is, is it?

How about every republican in the area drive into the city that morning.

It would be amazing to see how many cars could break down and refuse to start at every intersection in the city at about the same time.

I know the prez travels with a large group of lackies, but how many tow trucks in his motorcade ?

How many tow trucks in the whole darn state of Iowa ?

P.S. Imagine this in every location on the tour ?

How about calling it;

‘The Bus Stops Here’ tour

If he stops by Council Bluffs, I’ll make sure he’s greated by a large image of Sarah Palin.

What’s wrong with the Peosta Iowa Unemployment Office Job Center? The whole college thing is ridiculous.

The only job Dear Leader gives half a crap about is his own.

I wonder if his bussers will take the I-29 "flood detour" of 200 miles and four extra hours wandering around the countryside, (no thanks to Iowas's DOT). I kind of doubt it.

The huge inconvenience to travelers aside, wifey and I were dumbfounded three weeks ago at the total devastation in that area......there is NO way the flooded areas will recede before winter; the water is still up to the eaves of huge barns waaaaay far away from any natural river beds.

Peosta is hardly a ‘City’ - it’s a spot on the map 20 miles West of Dubuque with a little over 1200 people in it.

This is all about the one job he cares about: his own.

Every time he goes into these companies to tout them, particularly "green job" makers, they go belly up. If this president wanted to come to my business on a bus tour I'd tell the White House, "thanks but not thanks."

Oh yeah! He’s looking forward to talking to us about “growing the economy” and “creating jobs”. Would it be too much to HOPE he CHANGE talking about these things to doing them instead?
