Poll Shows Negative View of Tea Party on the Rise (More from The Slime Masters at the NY Times)
New York Times ^ | August 5, 2011 | KATE ZERNIKE

Posted on 08/05/2011 11:25:04 AM PDT by lbryce

Little more than a year ago, most Americans did not know enough about the Tea Party to have an opinion. Now, more people have opinions, and they are hardly positive.

The percentage of people with an unfavorable view of the Tea Party in a New York Times/CBS News Poll this week was higher than it has been since the first time the question was asked, in April 2010. Forty percent of those polled this week characterized their view as “not favorable,” compared with 18 percent in the first poll.

In the first poll, a plurality, 46 percent, said they had not heard enough about the Tea Party to have an opinion (an additional 14 percent were undecided). Now, just 21 percent said they had not heard enough.

The Tea Party may have benefited early on from people not really knowing exactly what it was.

While 18 percent of people in the April 2010 poll identified themselves as Tea Party supporters, just 4 percent of those polled had actually attended a meeting or given money to the movement.

Without any central organization or policy platforms, the Tea Party became a vehicle for all sorts of amorphous frustrations. Many people came to it more out of anxiety about the economy or anger toward Washington than for any specific policy position.

On Election Day, while 4 in 10 voters said they were Tea Party supporters, many might not have known what they were signing up for.

The debate over the debt ceiling gave people a more concrete picture: Tea Party groups and members of the Tea Party caucus in the House and Senate — many of them elected in the Republican sweep of 2010 — insisted that they would not raise the debt ceiling under any circumstances.

The New York Times slime machine spewing out the propaganda at a prodigious rate that would make Pravda proud.

Too bad that all of their negative slime won’t have the slightest effect on the growth and power of the Tea Party.

The libs are failing ever downward. All they’re doing is admitting what a significant force we are in US politics.

Interesting to read how the poll was conducted and the questions asked. They make blanket statements such as 82% of Americans.... blah blah.... whatever they are trying to propagandize. What a bunch of lying commie punks!

"The latest New York Times/CBS News Poll is based on telephone interviews conducted Aug. 2 and 3 with 960 adults throughout the United States."

So 960 adults picked by NYT for a poll represent the great unwashed masses of American citizens. Really?

When will they realize that the rest of America (the non-libs)ARE the Tea Party. They are not doing themselves any favors by berating half the country.

Well I guess the tea party is going to lose all it's seats in the next election...

Oh wait, I guess the times doesn't realize the tea party doesn't have any seats because it is not a political party it's an ideological movement, a set of beliefs. You will not see a candidate listed on the ballot as John Jones (T). Candidates can say they are aligned with the tea parties values or support the tea party and vice versa. The only time I have ever seen a candidate run as THE tea party candidate, was when it was a Democrat plant like in NY-26. If democrats are going to run against the "tea party" in 2012, good luck, they might as well be running against smoke.

Of course. How could it not be. They’ve only been conducting a blitzkrieg of otherization and demonization of each and every person on a most visceral level, connected with or even the slightest bit sympathetic to the tea party.
One of the New York Times’ most respected columnists just unleashed a tirade of dehumanization upon them. Just as a pure numbers game its bound to turn some people’s minds to disapproval.

We’ve seen this kind of raw hate before. We know it works to some extent on weaker minds and troubled souls. And so do those conducting this war in the “other”.

The nyet has not the slightest clue what *THE* TEA Party is. If they did, they couldn’t say *THE* TEA Party.

When I worked in a newsroom I saw the same delusional behavior on a daily basis. The MSM are so isolated from the real world (and locked in one of their own making) that they really DO think that their ‘reporting’ CREATES opinion. Therefore they print what they want people to think...no facts need apply. Only works on fellow libs though, and they apparently think there are more of them than us.

Well, it didn't take long for the MSM to GIVE them that opinion, now did it?

“All they’re doing is admitting what a significant force we are in US politics.”

Exactly. We have become a force to be reckoned with in only a couple of years.

They’re scared $hitless or they wouldn’t be attacking.

I saw an anti-Tea Party bumper sticker this week. He was in the woods cutting firewood. I wondered how he could possibly cut a tree down with a clear conscience. I think most of this is connected to the fact that Tea Party people are mainly Christians.

Careful there, New York Slimes, don't throw your shoulder out patting yourself on the back.
