There are very few strong, white farm boys anymore. It’s either the Amish or the Mexicans who are doing the grunt work.

As a live action example, look at Africa. They can't raise crops, dig wells, run electrical utilities, or maintain any other civil technical facilities. They have no ability for health care, (Big on witch doctor magic, tho, and assigning blame for infections on "spirits"...), and as far as combat skills, "Insh'Allah!" and holding down the trigger until it clicks dry is not a particularly effective tactical targeting system.

If they want to provoke a race war, I've got the winner, point spread and odds...

Unfortunately true, in this case social democracy devoid of an ethical core. Liberals, even social its such as Harrington did adhere to some core beliefs other than just gaining power. Harrington was excoriated for his disavowal of violent Black Power types and violence prone New Leftists , such as the President's friend Bill Ayers. Over the last half century liberalism in the US has become hollowed out and occupied by ‘Weathermen in suits’ with traditional liberals such ad the civil rights establishment becoming morally compromised enablers corrupted by the easy money and comfortable life style available to a card carrying ‘civil rights Negro’. Unfortunately other parts of the traditional liberal coalition have become equally corrupted. This will not have a good ending. When the people who used to represent opposition to mob action, organized racism, and vigilante thuggery are now comfortable with these things in ‘progressive ‘ robes only evil outcomes are likely.

The whole point of the "Freedom Rides" was to provoke an angry reaction. The idea of wet eared College students, coming by bus into a community for the purpose of trying to change its social customs is inherently incendiary. The angry mobs, were the whole point of the exercise.

I recently wrote a response to an article previewing what you have apparently seen on PBS, which appeared a few months back in the student newspaper of my Alma Mater. I do not have the web address of the correspondence, handy.

Nothing about the "Civil Rights" Movement in the 1950s has been, or is likely to be, correctly represented on PBS. The objective was never improved relations between the races.
