KNOXVILLE - Breath mints packaged in a tin can poking fun at President Barack Obama have been pulled from the shelves at the University of Tennessee bookstore after local legislator Joe Armstrong told store officials he was offended by the mints.
Armstrong, D-Knoxville, said he got a call from a student who had seen the satirical mints in the bookstore and was bothered by the depiction of the president.
The tin can reads: "This is change? Disappointmints."
Armstrong followed up Tuesday with a visit to the bookstore, located in the basement of the University Center, where he talked to director David Kent.
"I explained to him that I felt those mints were politically specific products that had no educational value," Armstrong said.
"If it was a book or something of that nature, fine, but that's sort of a discretionary product they have there. It wasn't viewpoint neutral. It was very specifically insulting to the president."
Armstrong said he did not ask Kent to remove the mints from the store but was glad he decided to do so.
Kent said the bookstore had previously carried mints in tins that depicted former President George W. Bush when he was in office.

Like an obedient serf.
I wasn’t aware that free speech was discretionary.
These Obamunists are, at heart, totalitarians. And what cowards these bookstore administrators are!
Although the esteemed congressman should know the U.S. Constitution doesn’t protect him from being offended (I don’t expect the college student to have a clue), sounds to me like the Obama Disappoint-mints struck a nerve with the Democrat Socialists in Tennessee.
I was thinking “UT” was University of Texas in Austin! Hell hasn’t frozen over.....
...where can we buy some?
The Left can dish Rules for Radicals out, but they’re little cry-baby pussies when anybody gives them a dose of their own Alinsky medicine.

Heh. SAME reaction here.
I’m thinking the same scene could be repeated at the Texas UT as the Tenn one.
Girlymen like Little Joey Armstrong tend to become “offended” very easily. The were raised by mothers who were constantly telling them that they were very smart and good little boys. Thank the Lord that the Founding Fathers added the right to not be offended to the U.S. Constitution and the Bill or Rights. If not, Little Joey Armstrong (Rat-Knocksville) would be “offended” all of the time. (sarc/) GET A LIFE AND TRY TO LIGHTEN UP JOEY!!!
How very... Stalinist of local legislator Joe Armstrong (D).
You think that's insulting, cowboy? Wait 'til election time. We're just getting started insulting the 'president'.
This loser has nothing better to do than that?
No wonder the country is such a mess. Shame on people who would vote for this fat ugly slob.
anything offensive to a ‘rat is racist .
Neither are the corrupt communist professors at the University of Tennessee...so what is your point, Mr. Armstrong?
Fat / ugly or slim / pretty - does not matter. Stuck on stupid is the condition of the modern Democrat Party. That’s a fact, Jack.
