*Vanity* Did we get tricked with the debt bill?
Vanity | 8/2/2011 | Me

Posted on 08/02/2011 8:05:19 PM PDT by freemama

There are many here smarter than I, so please help me with this theory.

In all the rush to pass the debt bill, did we get tricked? I think the Super Congress committee is an unbelievable power grab. They have locked out anyone who voted against the bill, so conservatives will not be part of the process. Yet these conservatives are elected representatives of the people. That's just not right.

To concentrate the power of the pursestrings in such a small group seems like a dangerous thing and easily corrupted. I think this structure has been put in place and will be used against us in the future.

What do you think?

I agree and I think this will have to go through the courts.

I think everyone in D.C. needs to be tarred, feathered, put in the stocks, run out on a rail, and made to wear a “T” for treason for the rest of their sorry miserable lives.

Everything the Dims do is a trick of one form or another.

Yes, the “super committee” is a horrible idea, very bad precedent, and I don’t see how it’s Constitutional to bar representatives from serving based on a previous vote.

But lifting the debt ceiling (and thereby giving these communists another couple trillion dollars to invest in their reelection campaign) was bad enough all by itself.

So you’re just now getting around to wondering? A little late to the party are we? I was well past that when McConnell offered up his idiocy. They lost me when Boehner decided the first one wasn’t enough.

Disappointed more then ticked. The “ticked” will come later, after I have a good yelling fit. Pity the next wall I have a disagreement with.

What the hell did we elect these asshats for, to kowtow to the Dems? They did nothing. They have achieved nothing. Obama and the Dems won.

No. We got sold out. We didn't get 'tricked' because you can't be tricked by something you see coming at you from a mile away.

The super committee has to be ruled unconstitutional and I hope the USSC thus rules. These Congressmen elite will try to rule and overrule the express representation of all the elected officials to Congress. This is like obamma’s czars, where there is no accountability.

You’re asking two rather separate questions.

The “Super” committee is fraud, fake, theatre, unconstitutional, dangerous tyrranical power grabbing. It is unconscionable.

Did we get hosed on the debt deal? The cuts amount to roughly $10 billion over the next 2 years, about 2.5 days of borrowing at present rates. The debt raise is 2.4 trillion. Yeah, great deal.

Every wonder why the Department of Health and Human Services got an extra half trillion? Ever wonder if they just funded ObamaCare?

Absolutely, the crisis was caused by Obama and his henchmen.
He lied, making up up perils which did not exist to scare the conservatives in Congress. And it worked! Congress caved so Obama brays!

The Dems ran circles around the GOP in this. All by using one clever device, tying the economy to the debt ceiling.

The economy is tanking at the hands of the democrats and everyone knows it. All they had to do was set a false deadline and go out in the media spouting how the economy will be hurt if the debt ceiling isn’t raised.

I think you are mistaken about people being locked out. That story started on The Weekly Standard and has been denied I believe.

We will know soon. They have two weeks, according to the new law, to fill the positions.

Regardless, we Freedom lovers were not ‘tricked’, just ignored. And screwed. Again.

First time in Washington, son?

It's not a trick if you come up with the plan to screw yourself just to try to browbeat TEA party conservatives. The elitist Republican establishment cabal rammed this limp noodle through and judging by the POS POTUS and the Senate's news conference, they have given his imperial majesty cover until after the election plus a $82.4 Trillion slush.fund to buys votes with and a Super Committee to raise taxes with no debate and no chance of a filibuster to let people know how bad things are. Sweet. Nice. Thank you Speaker Boehner. I never thought after your stellar, colossal failure at the CR you could make things worse but I'll be dammed if you haven't made me eat my words. A special thanks to the TEA party in Ohio that rallied in his favor last week. You guys need a gut check to make sure your TEA party hasn't become a psy ops for the Republican part of the ruling class. “LUCY! YOU HAVE SOME ‘SPLAINING TO DO!”
