San ANGELO, Texas (AP) Prosecutors played two audio recordings Tuesday of a polygamist sect leader instructing his 14-year-old "spiritual wife" and several other young women on how to please him sexually, and thus win favor with God.
Warren Jeffs, 55, is head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which believes polygamy brings exaltation in heaven. He is accused of sexually assaulting two girls, ages 12 and 15, he took as brides in what his church calls "spiritual marriages."
A forensic analyst testified Monday that Jeffs was the father of the 15-year-old's child. On Tuesday, prosecutors played a tape of Jeffs talking to the girl when she was 14, after Texas Ranger Nick Hanna testified about documents and electronic files seized during a 2008 police raid at the church's remote compound in West Texas.
The Associated Press generally does not identify victims of sexual crimes.
Among the materials recovered during the raid was a record of Jeffs' marriage "for time and all eternity" with the 14-year-old in January 2004. An excerpt from hundreds of pages of Jeffs' personal journals said the child was "pure and innocent and willing to obey" and that he summoned her parents and "informed them of their girl belonging to me."

Warren Jeffs trial pinglist—if you want on or off, let me know via freepmail!
Disgusting... just a way to hide the fact that he is a child molester.
Is this representative of how the LDS church got its start? Are we looking at a bunch of recent (within living memory) doctrines ginned up to enable such shenanigans?
Everytime I see Dingy Harry Reid, I think he must be Warren Jeffs brother. Looks just like him.
What I know about the LDS church and polygamy could fill a thimble. That being said, the concept that a man can “wed” a child is disgusting. I don’t care what type of scripture the man twists to “justify” his need for young girls... a cult IMHO.
He’s a classic child molester who should have been arrested decades ago.
Exactly. And his followers are complicit—that includes the mothers of these children they pimp out to old geezers like Jeffs.
“... that includes the mothers of these children they pimp out to old geezers...”
That is why I refer to it as a cult. What Mother would ever do that?
Mad Mo is not amused with your lack of tolerance for diversity . . . and it's not like he molested Aishia when she was only six and they married; he waited three whole years until she was nine just to give her time to grow up. Girls did mature younger then, you know. [If anyone can't tell whether this is sarcasm without a "/s" tag, I'm worried.]
This POS child molester Jeffs has to be sent away for good, make an example of him to his twisted followers.
I'm wondering if there are a lot of similar groups that are doing the same thing.
‘A forensic analyst testified Monday that Jeffs was the father of the 15-year-old’s child. On Tuesday, prosecutors played a tape of Jeffs talking to the girl when she was 14,’
He was having sex with is 14 year old DAUGHTER??!!??
I know there's a group in Canada right now (offshoot of this group?) that is hassling the Canadian government.
Years ago there was a group that went to Mexico, I believe they called themselves the Reorganized LDS or something like that.
I'd bet there are a few more but kinda doubt there are a lot of them, they tend to draw attention to themselves even if they don't want to.
The gag reflex set in before I was done with the excerpt.
There are not a lot of people I hope God has reserved a hot spot in hell for, but this guy certainly qualifies.
Claiming that this kind of behavior is commanded by God is an abomination that just about defies belief.

Yes, it is how the LDS church got its start. These core doctrines and teachings are from Joseph Smith and have not been repudiated or condemned by the SLC Mormons, even though they stopped practicing polygamy by 1930 (the first ‘manifesto’ was given in 1890 but not as revelation or commandment but merely as suggestion).
I feel like puking........
Several of Joseph Smiths plural ‘wives’ were 13-16 when he married them. Several others were still married (and living with) their legal husbands as well.
All of this shares the same history and doctrine as SLC Mormonism, except these people continue to practice what Smith taught rather than give it up for statehood.
Never repudiated or condemned?
