You’re totally missing the point-—Obama was against raising the debt limit in 06—and the GOP was FOR IT—with the Senate, the House, and the presidency in GOP control. If they ever get control again, they’ll come up with an excuse of their own to raise it, and the DEMs will go back to being against it.

The simple truth on that score is that no one wants to shut down the government or default while they're in power. The GOP paid dearly for its past profligate spending; either we are in the process of reconstituting a deficit-conscious limited government GOP, or the country is already doomed. I prefer not to believe that 535 ELECTED people can destroy us all...slowly, we are turning the public’s mind on these issues and electing a new breed of conservative.
