Ohio University has been named the nation's No. 1 party school.

The school in Athens - a town known for rowdy Halloween bashes - pushes the University of Georgia down a slot in the 2011 Princeton Review student survey released Monday.

Rounding out the top five are the University of Georgia, University of Mississippi, University of Iowa, and University of California, Santa Barbara.

Ohio was No. 2 last year. It has made the list 12 times since 1997, but never before reached the top.

The Princeton Review survey is part of its 2012 edition of "The Best 376 Colleges," which includes rankings in 62 categories. It is not affiliated with Princeton University.

Brigham Young University in Utah is the top stone-cold sober school for the 14th straight year.

Oh thank goodness. My daughter is headed to UGA this fall. At least they’re only number two on the party list. /sarc

Must be something about schools located in cities named “Athens.”

Bad enough we lost to them in football last year, but FSU ahead of UF for Party Schools? Now that hurts.

Georgia, Pennsylvania, and California are certainly places of extremes.

Yeah when I think of throwing down, my first thought is Athens, O-freakin-hio.

I call BS. These people never heard of LSU or USC or UNC or Auburn? East Carolina? Ole Miss?

I guess I’m just not the party type. I never dated anyone from UGA.

I did date girls from Wesleyan (#3 Stone Cold Sober) and Agnes Scott (#18 SCS) and married a girl from a feeder school for Wheaton (#2 SCS).

All were sober, but none were cold! Mrs BN is nice & warm, soft & cuddly!

Arizona didn’t make it because the student body is usually too stoned to party.

Ohio U not only offers green beer during Saint Patrick’s Day, it also flows in the streets. OU is known for this holiday.
