Following her emotional return to the House of Representatives last night to vote in support of the debt deal, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords announced on The Early Show this morning that she will run for re-election in Arizona. The show promptly tweeted the news.

Explaining her vote last night, Giffords said in a statement "I had to be here for this vote. I could not take the chance that my absence could crash our economy."

I admire her ability to recover from what she went through but

"I could not take the chance that my absence could crash our economy."

Disgusting exploitation.

But then, even with her published cognitive disabilities, she is more coherent and lucid than Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters.

http://news.yahoo.com/giffords-bipartisan-message-063300572.html

Among those who had been told of Giffords’s return was Vice President Joe Biden, who met with her privately for several minutes. “I said, ‘Now we’re both members of the Cracked Head Club,’” Biden later told reporters. “You know, I had two craniotomies.”

Well hells bells, that explains a lot of things...

If this had been a Republican congressional representative, the dems would have had to first question the effectiveness and cognative ability of the Republican first before they would be allowed to cast a vote after such a horrific experience...

Personally, I’m glad she is ok...

I too disagree with her statement, but she compares favorable to those Democrats who voted against the deal because it cut too much and didn’t raise taxes. Giffords is a relative moderate and much less liberal than Arizona’s other Democratic representatives.

She is no less brain-damaged than most of the other Democrats in congress.

Disgusting exploitation.

What would you expect from the party that gave us the Wellstone "we will win" memorial?

Giffords had voted “Nay” on two earlier debt-ceiling raises, in 2009 and in 2010. But, according to people in the Giffords circle, she had been dismayed by the partisan rancor impeding a solution to the crisis, and determined in the last few days to have her say. “I strongly believe that crossing the aisle for the good of the American people is more important than party politics,” a statement released by Giffords’s staff, and attributed to her, said. “I had to be here for this vote.”

Wonder what changed her mind???

Oh wait...duh...

let her run after all it is a free country. However she will have to arduously campaign and she will be asked legitimate but thoughtful questions to which she will have to respond.

Any attempt to have only pre submitted questions asked will massively backfire on her and given she just barely won last time and against a poor opponent, she will get soundly trounced despite the lib medias attempt to blare their sympathy (I will call it “playing the sympathy card)

Frankly I think she will have a primary opponent and will lose there once the polls shape up showing her with a problem
