Of course Islam can be reformed, but be careful what you wish for. The Christian reformation took roughly 150 years (from the early 1500s to the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648) and claimed the lives of possibly a third of Europe in the process.

The more apt question is "Can Islam be peacefully reformed?". To that history offers no cause for optimism.

and remember that that reformation was a return to fundamentalism, to puritanism. The Islamics have done this in the form of Wahabbism and the Salafis
