No. No. No.

What we need to do is to continue to infuse the weak Republican party with principled conservatives.

We now have only one half of one branch of government, and if people thought that we could effect real change with such a small bit of power, they were naive.

There will never be a 'non partisan process to find 435 new members of the house'.....and in fact, if you get rid of all the House members, you will remove some very principled, effective Tea Party conservatives.

I totally reject the concept that the Republican party is irrelevant. We have it on life support now, and are transfusing its blood with conservatism. We just need much more of it to succeed.

That can happen in 2012 if we don't give up.

DON'T GIVE UP!

What’s to say any new debt bill would be adhered to any way?

“Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act” of 1974
“Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act” of 1985
“Budget Enforcement Act” of 1990
“Balanced Budget Act” of 1997.
“Restoring Fiscal Discipline Act” of 2007
Yep, just one more bill  ought to do it.

Why not just call whatever they pass The “Kick the Can Down the Road Bamboozlement Act ”  of 2011 ?

We need a non partisan process to find 435 new members of the house in 2012 with tea party principles.

Really? Please explain how that would work since the RATS have an extremely partisan process on their side that will re-elect a substantial number of their current members.

Like it or not, the voting public of this country consists of 35-40% of rabid marxist/socialist Libs and approximately the same number of informed conservatives. We are fighting over the less informed 'independent' middle and we need to fight in an unashamedly conservative way and the only strong enough political vehicle for that is the GOP, infused with the Tea Party movement.

GOOOH?! It sounds appropriately named. Goo indeed.

That strategy is a sure loser in 2012. You better come up with a new FR handle.

It actually sounds like something a liberal socialist would try to convince conservatives to do to insure a socialist democratic victory in 2012.

I don't mean to say you are a socialist. I do mean to say that what you are suggesting is a third party strategy, which will serve only to split the GOP/conservative vote in 2012 and, in effect, hand the election to the socialist democRATS who will get behind one liberal partisan candidate as if their lives depend on it.

Remember, it was Ross Perot who gave us Bill Clinton.

I disagree about blame. Of course, the usual suspects—domestic and international—will whine their usual talking points.

But I believe a majority of American voters see the Senate budget bill for what it is—business as usual. These same voters are demanding that there be no debt ceiling increase, no tax increases, immediant and significant spending cuts and an enforceable balanced budget requirement.

Those elements are absolutely essential to fixing America. Failing to do what you know is right because of some real or imagined blame game is an act of cowerdice. A person who discards his/her principles for expediency is obviously not principled in the first place.

I have told my reps EXACTLY how I feel.

No higher debt. Cut spending drastically NOW. Cap spending NOW. Pass a balanced budget amendment and send it to the states...NOW.

Make the dems belly up to THAT bar, or face defeat in 2012...which is coming on them anyway.

We have more than enough revenue to cover all debts and not default on a single one, to pay our military, and to pay social security and medicare. Prioritize after that and CUT DEEP. These are things we the people have to do on a weekly and monthly basis. Our government must do the same.

Instead we have pols scaring old folks, scaring the sick and afflicted, and threatening our military where no threat exists. It is sickening and I know I am sick to death of it and it is time to turn these people out.

My vote for my reps depends on them doing these things. I believe there are tens of millions like me.
