More than 100,000 people took to the streets Saturday to protest the spiraling costs of living in Israel. Marches and rallies took place in eleven cities across the country, with the largest ones taking place in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Be'er Sheva and Haifa. The protesters chanted "the people demand social justice" and "we want justice, not charity."

The biggest protest was in Tel Aviv, where tens of thousands march from HaBima Square to the Tel Aviv Museum. "We are very happy to see the Israeli people go out into the streets," said Yonatan Levy, one of the organizers. "We were amazed to see throughout the day that the issues that were raised on the different stages and tent cities are not so removed from each other after all."

The issue may be foreign Jews buying houses and apartments in Israel for part time use. Jerusalem certainly has this problem. They are pricing the young people out of the market.
Since the young people are also the defending Army..they need to address the issue. Having friends who are young people in Israel and a son who is working there...this isn’t just a socialist issue.

Most of my Jew (who are flaming Dems) acquaintances here in L.A. are from Haifa. They’re pretty much the Berkley version of Israel. And you’d think these protestors or whatever you call them would be just grateful they are alive..

Yeah, looks like more of a little Arab Spring going on there among a youth stirred by a bunch of liberal song artists. Another youth problem that believes your freedoms and your stuff should be priced at $zero. Or very possibly just an Arab/Islamofascist problem, just like we’re going to be facing soon.

I did hear that housing is hard to find in Israel and get the impact that pricing has on the young and the service tier of society. What you say should give us pause before the usual assumptions.

The protesters chanted "the people demand social justice"

"Social Justice" means whatever you want it to mean. You are the legislature, the enforcement and the judiciary of whatever law you perceive as being broken. You get to determine the punishment and restitution. Weeeeeeeee!

Ah. Sort of a “Saul Alinsky and Cloward/Piven come to Israel” kinda thing. With a twist of Che thrown in for the esthetics.
