A cadre of conservative Republicans in St. Johns County believes that their conservative brothers and sisters in the St. Augustine Tea Party are attempting to split the party into two competing ideological wings.
Yet both sides believe that the other is already in control.
Tea Party leaders deny they want to split the party and say Republicans haven't been listening to their constituents, who want lower taxes and less government.
Randy Covington, Republican state committeeman and Tea Party member who is secretary of the Republican Executive Committee, said the establishment is angry that change is coming.

The gravy train is coming to an end.
We have some democrats who changed affiliation when it became obvious that the county was swinging republican. All they changed was their voter registration cards.
This is what the Liberals want—the GOP and Tea Party to split the conservative vote so their neo-communists can win. We must strive to unify in the face of a common enemy. Its too late for a 3rd party this time around. BUT if the GOP keep shutting out the voice of the people—that direction maybe out only choice. But not now—not in 2012.
These folks are doing it the right way. Trying to change the party from with-in, instead of starting a 3rd party. Good luck and God Speed. As Pelosi once said, It’s time to drain the swamp.
There are plenty in the GOP who are enamored with Big Government, just as long as it's their particular favorite flavor.

Those grassroots precincts and who becomes their chairman is crucial to change, so on primary night we all have a place to be when the polls close. I don’t want us to behave like Neanderthals and bullies either. What we stand for is arithmetic for crying out loud, and for what is right and decent, and to carry all that with confidence and grace should be easy to do and compelling for others to see. Let the other guys make a fool of themselves, but the take away will be with us.

Their protests include signs with scrawled anti-tax slogans and quotes from Founding Fathers. Several silent protests were held by members wearing Sons of Liberty clothing and holding the yellow Gadsden Flag with the words, "Don't Tread on Me."
The Founding Fathers and the Gadsden Flag are so threatening! LOL!
Long-time GOP veterans say confrontational and theatrical actions turn them off.

We don’t want GOP hacks stuffing local ballot boxes. Tea Party citizens have every right to participate in the system. And to insure a fair and ethical election. And then let the chips fall as they may.

I’m not surprised at all, I’ve seen it here live and in color on this Debt Debate issue. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he did not read the article, before he blew his top about 3rd party.
