Nobody said we should be everywhere. We should be in places to defend OUR interests.
We need to be in other countries, so we can fight them “over there”, rather than wait until we have to fight them over here — I think that’s another Rumsfeld statement more or less.
Do you think we should just sit here and wait until Iran and N Korea nuke us?

Do Iran or North Korea even have the capability of nuking us? Do they show any signs of imminently preparing to nuke us? The answer, as far as I know, to both of those questions is no. The threat has to be imminent before we should be involved. Otherwise, we risk making a grave mistake and committing ourselves to war without proper justification. We should be able to see them amassing the armies or weapons to attack us before we intervene.
