American hikers accused of spying in Iran could be released tomorrow after two years in jail

The two American hikers accused of spying in Iran could be released tomorrow after a two-year prison ordeal, their lawyer said today.

Masoud Shafiei says he believes Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal could be freed after a hearing on Sunday, as the date coincides with the second anniversary of their arrest.

The Muslim world also has a tradition of pardoning prisoners for the holy month of Ramadan, which starts early next week.

How could the GOP hold these hikers hostage like this?

How could the Te Party do this to America?

(Has the media all picked out their party dresses for the big five-oh party?)

How is dialogue with Iran working, btw, beahtch?

Wonder how that degree from Berkeley in Peace and Conflict studies worked out for them! ;-D

“Shane Bauer, a 2007 honors graduate in peace and conflict studies,” (from the article below)

My husband knows the uncle of the one young man. His grandfather was an Iraqi Jew and he was in Iraq exploring his “roots”.

I’m not trying to justify the their actions, just saying that these foolish young people have families, who are very concerned, practicing Jews. Well, at least the one guy does. I don’t know much about the other one.

Practicing Jews who probably voted for Obama.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for these idiots. Just like I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who cross the N. Korean Border.

I’m still trying to find out why the Tea Party took us to Libya and got us involved in a 3rd war. And look at the unemployment numbers the Tea Party has created. We need to get the Tea Party out of the White House

Oops, I forgot. It was “republican” Reagan that sent these troops to Libya. My bad. Well, he would have been part of the Tea Party too. So, blame it all on them.

The Muslim world also has a habit of releasing prisoners for money. The family must have finally raised the ransom.

When and if these young American hikers are released, will they have learned anything about Iran?

Will they still be stupid lefties as they were when they “strayed” into the Islamic Republic of Iran?

May be or may be not.

I'm betting that even after rotting for two years in an Iranian prison, they will still love Ahmadinejad, the mullahs, and the IRGC. They will also hate Israel (the same as before their incarcerations).

Do you have a good reason for repeating your title twice in your opening two sentences?

I hope and pray for their release; no Americans deserve to be held in an Iranian prision, much less on trumped up charges. These young people were minding their own business in the mountains of Iraq; they’ve been kidnapped and been badly mistreated.

Good thing we had presidents with the stones to go over there and get them back.

Ha. Do I need a good reason? What if I don’t have one? Is there a fine?

Actually, the full title wouldn’t fit, so I posted the full title at the beginning of the article.
The opening sentence of the article is not the same though it may be a bit repetitive. You’ll have to speak with the author of the piece about that.

Am I free to go?

“The Muslim world also has a habit of releasing prisoners for money. The family must have finally raised the ransom.”

This would be 2 families. And I doubt this was a case of ransom being paid.

Iran now realizes that holding the "hikers" makes no further sense in that they will not get the status info they were looking for on the defector Ali-Reza Asgari. He is likely dead.

The "hikers" were at a grotto, a somewhat popular locale for Iraqi visitors. Straying into Iran at that location is not probable as the Iranian border there sits atop a high ridge bordering the grotto on three sides.

On the edge of that ridge overlooking Iraq is a well traveled gravel roadway used by Iranian border patrols constantly on the look out for Kurdish rebels and smugglers. It would be a significant hike/climb up that ridge to get into Iran, not an accidental wandering.

I believe that the families are practicing Jews, not the kids. Two of them were living in a refugee camp in Syria before they went on this “hike”. Yes, it’s difficult to fathom their stupidity. I only mention the fact that they are Jewish because it makes their situation so much more dangerous and it is sad for the parents.
