Greg Ebert - Clerk at Texas Gun Shop Near Fort Hood Who Alerted Police to Naser Abdo
YouTube ^ | 7/28/2011 | Greg Ebert

I can't actually post the video on Free Republic, but it's a radio interview with the man who alerted police about the second would-be terrorist who wanted to attack Ft. Hood. Worth the click.

Don’t know who keeps gun pings, but this is very interesting.

I have mixed feelings here.
Abdo did nothing illegal, but he certainly was suspicious.
I think the clerk her did the right thing, but it is a fine line in judgement.

That said, I hope the punk burns in hell.

Was the same Gun Shop where Maj Hasan bought his weapons before he shot up Ft. Hood.

There is no gun ping list. It would be HUGH and Series to maintain.

We just add the “banglist” keyword

Good for this man, pointing out that MORE laws adds nothing to our security.

Well....#1...he was AWOL and #2 I think the explosives makings might have been illegal (not sure on that) and #3 didn’t he have kiddie-porn on his computer?

I’m glad he didn’t have the chance to carry out his fantasies!

Thanks for posting this.
Probably the first question in my mind when I heard of this was why did the guy get “reported”?
Are they going to make us give fingerprints for reloading supply’s?

Greg Ebert is a shining example of what America should be.
He isn’t pissing on anyone’s rights but knows crazy when he see’s it.
The guy has situational awareness.

I just had a conversation about body language with my brother in India today.
We agreed that while there are 14+ languages over there and you may not know what people are saying (or thinking) you just know when stuff isn’t right.
2 locals talking in another language, giving you the darting sideways glance.
It puts the radar up

Everything Abdo was doing was legal.
Ebert had no need to ask his name or background.
He sussed the guy out purely on the way he acted.

When you buy a knife at walmart no one asks questions.

Being AWOL from the service is legal now? Just askin’.

The clerk has excellent instincts!....for which Ft. Hood should be very thankful!

I hope Garland Police and the Military are running an investigation into his social acquaintances.

Could be that the white punk from Texas is just a loon like Anders Breivik.

I smells that way to me.
There sure is a lot of crazy in this world as of late.

What I am curious about is when/why was the guy arrested? Were they looking for him because he was AWOL? Was it only on the gun shop’s tip that they looked him up and then the pieces fell together? It’s hard to know exactly what happened, I guess I’ll need to read some more stories. At the rate it was going it’ll take me all evening to watch that 12 minute clip so I gave up about 1/2 way through.

No, I am saying you don’t have to tell a clerk you are AWOL to purchase a coke, or smokeless powder.

And you shouldn’t have to.

Smokeless powder is far less volatile than gasoline that every soccer mom in the country puts in the SUV.

I’m not saying this guy isn’t a wacko creep.
I’m saying I had some trepidation that our rights and freedoms could be eroded if we over react to incidents like this.

Noted on another forum:

Apparently albo was acting suspiciously enought that when he earlier went to quantico tactical, he attempted to make a purchase there, and was refused by the clerk there too...

“After making a report to the Killeen PD and FBI, I was (within three hours!) contacted by the Associated Press. In the past, when I have been contacted the media, I have refused to comment. However, on this issue, I sent the following information:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I have a policy that no one in my organization has to sell a firearm to anyone with which they feel uncomfortable.

On Sunday 3 July, Naser Abdo entered our Quantico Tactical store in Oak Grove, KY (outside Ft Campbell).

He was acting very erratically and asking all sorts of suspicious questions. He left our store, came back later the same day and attempted to purchase a pistol. The team member on duty refused to sell him a pistol. The transaction never reached the NICS background check stage. The person became agitated and was asked to leave the store.

Due to the very, very suspicious behavior exhibited by Naser, the Quantico Tactical team members notified the Ft Campbell Provost Martial’s Office of the attempted purchase on the same day (3 July). The Provost Martial office took the issue very seriously, as both the Army CID and the Oak Grove Police Department promptly sent personnel to our store to investigate the incident.

I am very proud of our team member’s performance in this issue. I have no other comments.

David Hensley
President, Quantico Tactical”
