From a recent Business Week article referenced here a few days ago: “...Kotlikoff concluded that the fiscal gap—i.e., the net present value of all future expenses minus all future revenue—amounts to $211 trillion.”

That $211 Trillion estimate is the largest one I've seen so far. More than mind boggling... Impossible to ever pay off...

Jim ? do you ever get the feeling that what we are seeing today with this so called " Raise the Debt Ceiling " talk is just forestalling the inevitable ? that this country's fiscal and economic future is doomed ?
They may forestall it for another few months, but, unless they do something drastic, like cutting or getting rid of most of those government agencies, it's all going to come down like a house of cards and fast.
Do you get the feeling the horses have left the farm and it's to late to close the barn door ?

The thing is ? the longer they wait ? the worse it get's and the faster it will come crashing down.
Sort of like the snowball effect, and this snowball it big and out of control.
NOW !!! is the time to stop the spending and cut government agencies..... not next year, not next month, NOW ! ... but ? then again ? do any of you get the feeling that this is all engineered and in their grand design to bring us all down ? that they want this to happen for some nefarious purpose ?
