They just have not tried to intimidate or assault the right person. When they do, and there is high body count, the will be seeing that guy or gal whereever they go.
These idiots don’t realize that they are setting a legal precedent that is going to make shooting them almost on sight a legal defense. There is now plenty of source material that an attorney can point to suggest that those flashmobs are menacing and almost always present a clear and present bodily harm threat, thereby justifying the use of lethal force.
Consult your state laws concerning your rights and obligations in the defense of OTHERS, not just yourself. If you see a person being beaten by a flashmob, know implicitly if you can render aid to them in the form of lethal force.

I live in the South and I have a CCW permit. I avoid the really dangerous parts of town. When I walk in town, I carry. I would really hate to hurt one of these nice, misunderstood kids. I would avoid it at all cost. I would run from them and always wear running shoes when I am out walking. I also do not appear weak on the street. I am always street aware, and never let a sketchy character come in behind me. I would avoid hurting one of these nice kids at all costs. But, believe me, this crap is not coming to a city near me.
Yes, I was there in '05 and felt relatively safe in this part of town. I looked it up on the map last time I was there it was not bad at all.
LE is just not equipped to handle a mini riot with 40 participants. They must be using their cell phones to organize. It should not be too hard to figure out who they are, and see who responded to the call. Survailence cameras recently got some really good pictures of such a gang that nearly beat a jogger to death. They were nice, misunderstood kids, too. They, for the most part, are now becoming acquainted with the juvenile justice system.

Bottom line is that we have no control over where this is going to happen. We can only try to influence the outcome in our favor if we inadvertently become involved.

People out there need to change their laws. The 2nd Amendment covers all the states the last time I looked!
The devices meant to deal with this sort of thing have been classified ar ‘destructive devices’. The street sweeper and other similar shotguns were designed to shut down riots and street problems involving crowds, and with lead shot, the pellets could be ‘skipped’ off the pavement in front of the advancing mob for better dispersal and non-lethal effect. When the front row goes down, the rest get pushed into a pile by the ones behind them. Skip fire can still be done with a pump or semi-auto, but being able to cover the front of the mob quickly is what makes the technique effective.
