'O' no! (Oprah.com loses half its readership, Jenny McCarthy bolts from OWN...)

Chalk up two more gut- punches for Oprah Winfrey and her staggering OWN cable network.

Following news that Jenny McCarthy has taken her planned Harpo-produced talk show elsewhere -- possibly to NBC -- comes word that oprah.com, Winfrey's main contribution to OWN, has lost half its readership since "Oprah" left the air in May.

Oprah.com, which Winfrey gave to Discovery Communications as her half of their partnership in starting OWN, was down nearly 50 percent in site visits last month, according to siteanalytics.compete.com.

And Oprah was the smart one getting out of Rev Wrights congregation years before the Democrat’s candidate parted with Wright...

It’s not a bad channel, I just don’t think they are doing a good job of getting their value proposition out there.

That’s, not a bad channel for chicks.

Mostly, I wouldn’t watch it.

If she had been less political she might be more successful now. As Laura Ingraham said, “Shut up and sing.”

About 90% of those I wasn’t going to buy, patronize, support or use anyway.

Is it really a boycott if you were never going to buy their crap in the first place? :P

“Rosie O’Donnell is going to have a show on OWN.”

Wow. Add Rosie O’Donnell to the lineup. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. She’s such an attractive person and personality; everyone will want to tune in. /s/

Over the past decade of her career, Ms. Winfrey has proven quite adept at earning tons of cash while delivering less-than-impressive results.

As I’ve noted in previous posts, one reason she bailed on her broadcast talk show is because her ratings were down significantly; Judge Judy had long since replaced her as the “Queen of Daytime TV” and there was no way her syndicator (King World) was going to open up the bank vault again. True, her program was in no danger of cancellation, but any future broadcast deals would not match the ransom she’d been earning in recent years.

So, she took her act to cable, and Discovery elected to pony up. One thing I’m curious about: what sort of compensation is Discovery having to offer because OWN isn’t meeting projected ratings. Advertisers bought commercial time on the network with a promise of so many viewers, in total and in the desired demographic. Since Oprah isn’t hitting her target, Discovery will be forced to cut their ad rates and compensate advertisers who paid the original, premium price.

Here’s another prediction I’ve offered before and I’ll say it again: Oprah will be back on broadcast TV (or retired) by 2015. OWN’s current business model is unsustainable, like the economic policies of her buddy Barack.

Not enough bad things can happen to her as far as I am concerned. Let her lose everything. She helped perpetrate the fraud that got this Kenyan Marxist elected and in turn, led to his near destruction of America as we know it. Just seems like it’s time this pig feels the financial blows the rest of America has felt since losing it’s mind and electing this POS Marxist moron. Kharma’s a b*tch, but Oprah so richly deserves all the bad coming her way these days.

I'm with suzanne malveaux's death wish for Clarence Thomas on this one; fed oprah bacon and greasy eggs till her arteries clog and she goes face down in the hash browns.

Typical liberal bitch.

I’m in the Network TV business, and believe me when I say that just one well-written email to an advertiser is far more effective than 1,000 people boycotting. Companies have many choices and ever tighter ad $$. Go directly to the Director of Marketing and give them a chance to gather data and make a far better informed position. You might be amazed how powerful just one single letter can be!

Jimbo, Jeremiah Wright said in his history of the Trinity sect, that the members thought Oprah was rich enough to pay for everything and quite tithing. That’s is more likely why she left Wright’s church.
