@BarackObama is urging Twitter users to tweet specific House Republicans to push for a compromise on increasing the federal debt ceiling.
"Tweet at your Republican legislators and urge them to support a bipartisan compromise to the debt crisis," read a post on President Obama's Twitter feed Friday.
The @BarackObama feed promised to "post the Twitter handles of GOP lawmakers in each state," and the posts are running through the list alphabetically by lawmakers' states.
"Alaska voters: Tweet @lisamurkowski and ask her to compromise on a balanced deficit solution," @Barackobama tweeted.
Obama has also urged voters to use more traditional methods of contacting their legislators to voice their opinion on a debt-ceiling-increase plan.
He called on Americans to call their legislators and voice support with how they think the debt-ceiling should be dealt with. As a result, congressional phone lines and websites were jammed on Tuesday, peaking at 40,000 calls in an hour — twice as many as usual.
