And what’s the penalty if congress doesn’t reach an agreement on a balanced budget?

In CCB, spending is capped to avoid the simple politician's move to raise taxes. In CCB, if no agreement is reached to balance, automatic across-the-board cuts take place to reach balance.

I don't know what this most recent incarnation has in it yet.

What’s the big deal about the House passing this. The buffoons in the Senate said they aren’t going to pass it and the Kenyan said he’d veto it.

Good point, instead, the House should just raise the debt limit by $2.5 trillion and agree to whatever else Obama and Reid decide they want.

Crack negotiating.

Isn't this wonderful? Something needed will be put in this bill. Send it to the Senate! Let Dingy Harry and McLame continue to wave their flag, and tell Americans and the House the Senate has decided to table ... balancing the budget. Battle Royal, On. Let us hear from these lame excuses for journalists in the media, and back Dingy.

then THEY own it. Not us.

I agree, BUT boy king, the Senate, and the DB LSM will place all the blame right at the feet of the GOP. Makes no difference what the FACTS are, none whatsoever.

It’s a scam.

It’s nothing but meaningless political cover for Republicans for the next election, nothing else.

Watch the bottom line, which is how much, if any, they raise the debt ceiling. Nothing else is worth a bucket of warm spit.

“and the Kenyan said he’d veto it. “

he can veto the spending bill, but he has no role in a constitutional amendment. teh joint congressional amendment goes to the States through the National Archivist, for ratification.

To heck with the "balanced budget amendment" - I want the Thomas Jefferson Amendment:

"I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution ... taking from the federal government their power of borrowing."

-- Thomas Jefferson (Letter of November 26th, 1798)

Purely symbolic, but they should just pass something and get on with it. We look like idiots enough as it is, and Bambi and the Dems are already jeering and saying they’ll just have to “move on” without a bill from the House.

And if you think they can’t do it, you don’t know how much Obama hates our constitutional procedures. And how easy it is for him to ignore them, because he’s never held accountable. He has wanted to issue his own “proclamation” on this anyway, and the House’s inability to produce a bill has given him perfect cover.

This is nothing but an exercise in stupid(y).

::::::::::::::::::

Hardly.

We know exactly what Obama’s mob will do. This will put it all on the record that the socialist rats trashed EVERYTHING that America needs to solve our economic (and political) problems. Which, of course, was all created and presented by the Repubs!

Then it will be time for Obama and his ilk to stand and deliver. He has put forth nothing tangible as a solution -— just more socialist taxation and spending would be in line with his agenda of ruining the free, democratic system, including its capitalist economy, in America. We sit on the brink.

Boenher should go before the cameras and request an open debate, in front of the American people and have it live on CSpan 1 or 2. Not to talk about Bush, not to talk about Reagan, nothing but the current situation. Let the American people decide who is right or wrong.

So you’re a big help.

The House shouldn’t pass anything? Although an argument could be made that they did pass CCB and the Senate tabled it. If the House isn’t going to stand on the principle of what it passed, then they have to bring up something else.

I’m so proud of the Conservative Tea Party stalwarts currently holding the line. 67% of this country thinks the federal government should have to live with a balanced budget. Just like all states have to do, just like all us peons have to do. No entity, in the laws of economics, should be allowed to constantly spend more than they bring in. Lines of credit are fine but restraint.

We got a president who increased the debt limit from ten trillion to 14 trillion. and now he asks for the right to raise it to 17 plus trillion.

The pubs got a winner here but they don’t want to fight the battle. Scuse...the GOP Blue Blood Ruling Class elite.

Instead they make fun of us silly morons who want to keep that communist in the WH from dismantling and destroying this country. They have spines of rubber.

Don’t tell us to wait until the pubs own all the parts of the gubmint. Cause when we do, and we shall I am sure, we might have 70 senators, the prez, and 325 reps. Then they’ll ask us to wait until a second term for the repub prez, just to make sure, for about ten more senators to shore it up, and maybe fifty more reps to make it solid.

They’ll push it off again because they really don’t want to fight the war. They only want the cocktail party invites, cameras spanning their gorgeous bods slowly and with honor...THE HELL WITH US!

It’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Balancing the budget....damn what a concept.

He can’t veto the balanced budget amendment. It must go to he states. He is screwed if it passes. THAT is why the senate will kill it...unless any democrats still care one iota about their country.
