But that actually is not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about something that started to become apparent to me during the debt negotiations. It's something I've never seen in national politics.
It is that nobody loves Obama. This is amazing because every president has people who love him, who feel deep personal affection or connection, who have a stubborn, even beautiful refusal to let what they know are just criticisms affect their feelings of regard. At the height of Bill Clinton's troubles there were always people who'd say, "Look, I love the guy." They'd often be smilinga wry smile, a shrugging smile. Nobody smiles when they talk about Mr. Obama. There were people who loved George W. Bush when he was at his most unpopular, and they meant it and would say it. But people aren't that way about Mr. Obama. He has supporters and bundlers and contributors, he has voters, he may win. But his support is grim support. And surely this has implications.

The GOP leadership bungled it when they didn’t take the time to explain to the electorate what baseline budgeting is and how the “cuts” proposed by the Dems are really not “cuts” at all. An informed electorate will turn out the Dems in a heartbeat.
Rush is doing a helluva job trying to get the message out, but the older elected Repubs should have been at it from day one, as well. They’ve been part of the beltway scam for far too long and are now vilifying the newly elected Pubbies for objecting to perpetuating this baseline travesty.
Bush-girl Peggy sez nobody loves Obama anymore, not even she.
I agree, chick. People who I know who loooooved Hussein are oh so quiet now. I do know one or two who got brave after Hussein’s continuation of Bush’s policies led to the death of Osama.
Agreed - if Boehner wants a 'way out', this is what he should do .... since NO debate was allowed & the bill was 'tabled', the onus should be back on the Senate. Why in the world are they even considering passing a 2nd crappy bill that Reid has announced is DOA before the first House vote is cast (?).
But you are right in that she did say a lot of unnecessarily nice things about 0.
Yeah, but Hussein IS a socialist.
“Hey, even his father wanted to give him away.”
Heh!
Color me surprised. Thanks for the correction.
I work at a university. “O” walks on water here.
Correction peggy, he is an evil man - one can see this because he tremendously lies, he advocates stealing from the rich to give to the poor so the poor will vote for more redistributionists - even though his policies make everyone poorer, even the poor, also he pushes policies that usurp the rights of free people. Though is is not an alien, he is not natural born as required by the Constitution. He is also a communist. He thinks being a muslim is cool, but he can’t say that at this point. He was put in power by powerful people who are all a bunch of ninnies that think they know everything but they don’t so their dictates cause misery for everyone else.
I thought we had put Peggy Noonan next to George Will in those round baskets that set under all of our desks. I just checked mine and they’re both still there.
Hunt = instant station change for me.
I appreciate that he is a combat veteran, but his support of Soetoro makes listening to anything he has to say impossible.
Yes...I too have noticed that the rabid zero supporters are pretty quiet these days.
I think that due to his life’s circumstances Obama has always been a loner looking for an identity and unfortunately the only thing close by for him to grab onto was marxism. If he were really smart he’d realize what a mistake marxism is and convert, a la David Horowitz and now David Mamet to name two, but apparently that’s too much of a shift for such an insecure person.
Very well stated!
People who get government money.
Peggy went out of style with the tube TV.
In the winding, wandering, wonderful woods of woozy madness and sussurus whispers of loquatious verbosities and ponderous awkward phrase, in that swamp of hooting inantity and irrelevance made relevant through monotonous repetition of the cricket chirp and frog croak, pulling hair and career all undone is the rusted banshee of banality saying all that may be said so that something said may not be in error, however rare and accidental.
