House leaders threatening hold outs

Posted on 07/28/2011 4:08:34 PM PDT by MNJohnnie

It is being reported on Fox that the House GOP is threatening any hold outs with retribution if they do not vote for the Bohner bill tonight. Please take a moment to pray that the hold outs not be intimated by this thug behavior.

The holdouts will be just fine, we the people will see to it. Tonight is not a “make or break” moment for their careers, it is a make or break moment for the House Leaders careers.

Apparently the GOP leaders all missed the message of last election. Keep this crap up GOP Establishment and we will primary you into retirement just like we did a bunch of your fellow political dinosaurs in 2010.

I heard they are threatening the Tea Party reps with their “career”.

I hope their response is 1) I don’t intend to make this a career out of my service in the House and 2) I will run for re-election on a third party ticket if I suffer *any* repercussions for my decision.

The elitist Republican establishment cabal of the ruling class has ruled the newly elected country class representatives who refuse to become prostitutes for the ruling class will be endure retribution. Such is the pettiness of tyrants. What about the promises they made to their constituents? Guess they only count when they agree with the LOSERS running the Republican establishment. At your own peril Mr. Speaker and company. At....your...own...peril.

The elitist Republican establishment is evidently just hunky dory with their secret Messiah as President for 4 more years.

It's like the script has been written and those who go off script will be destroyed professionally and personally if need be to set the example.

I just tried Dan Benishek (Mich.), and his office is closed. No mailbox to leave a message.

Why would we be better off? obama is going to play hardball politics regardless of what happens... and this pos bill will do NOTHING to reduce our debt or cut future spending in any real way.

I am NOT a perfectionist... I know that we cannot get what we truly need passed today... BUT WE CAN PASS A BILL THAT AT LEAST TAKES A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION! I like the Connie/Mac bill of cutting 1% per year for 8 years and it achieves a balanced budget. Bring it up and send it to reid.

boehner is handling ALL of this very poorly... and his bill will do nothing but allow reid to tack on ALL of their agenda items and then blame the republicans for every evil known to man... if the do not sign the amended bill. We have to stand firm. America's credit rating is going to be downgraded by Moody and S&P soon anyway... we deserve it... and obama will project his evil upon the republicans anyway.

We are far better off with no bill and a track record of trying to pass something... over the CONSTANT intentional blocking of obama and the dims... and play hardball with the rats for once. Do what Washington would do! He faced far more danger crossing over a frozen river to kill a bunch of redcoats than we face today... It is time to do the right thing and if not now... then when?

This House bill does not begin to address the depth and width of the insolvency of the United States government.

Agreed. But neither would not raising the debt ceiling. That may save some now, but not later.

In its passage, this bill would send the false message of action.

Disagree. It sends a message that the debt debate will continue, that the debt situation requires action, that the House is indeed taking action, and that we need more TEA types elected.

God help us if Obama and Reid take control of this situation.

Sad and harmful to the country when the leadership in Washington has the mind no better than that of an ape.

This should be highly illegal! It short circuits the whole democratic process.

Lie down for a minute and get over it. This has been going on since the country was formed. We have a two-party system. If one loses, the other wins.

If a third party forms (an idea that is more and more popular on this board), we lose all the time from here on out. I don't like it, but this bill has to pass.

I think it should be illegal to campaign and give each other money from their campaign funds.

I loved the new congressman cutting McCain down to size this a.m. ...but I didn't get his name.

It’s a shame that Congress can’t just go back to naming another post office....oh, wait, that’s all the business they actually accomplished today......Ya just can’t make this stuff up!!! Talk about a bunch of clowns.

I am sorry but that is the false choice the Washington Establishment is parroting. It is nonsense.

Reid and Obama can do NOTHING without the House. All this posturing by 0, Reid and Schumer is empty noise. They can do nothing without the House and they know it.

Time for Conservatives to learn Patton's dictum

“Never take council of your fears”

The House leadership needs to be reminded that they serve at the will and the whim of the majority. They are placed in that position to serve the members of the majority and not the other way around.

But I also think we’re better off passing this bill.”

You are wrong friend... and Rush and Mark Levin see things as I do. obama is going to play hardball and spin anything that happens to his benefit... and the media will help him as they always have... nothing that will happen in this debacle will change that fact.

Do you know anything about the Connie/Mac bill that boehner refuses to discuss? 1% cut this years and 1% each following year... ending in a balanced budget.

2010 was a mandate election to stop this marxist march to hell... and if the Tea Party members today hang tough... and most are... then we will support them and support new Tea Party candidates to replace these corrupt men such as boehner. They have been there too long and worship power... they have forgotten what America was meant to be... they have dishonored us all... and they have absolutely no respect for us or our wishes.

I do not doubt what you shared about the actual threats to the representatives who want to vote no, but could you please share where that info came from. I would really like to know the source to get the full picture. Thanks.

I appreciate your reasonable reply... If this isn't passed, rightly or not, everything will be blamed on Rs by Obama, Reid, and MSM. Everything - debt downgrade [even tho it's inevitable], unemployment [even tho it's all 0zer0's], etc.

It will mean taxes to cover more spending.

If it IS passed, the House has shown that it is able to take some action [albeit minimal in my eyes.] It puts the ball in the Dem's court. They've got to vote on SOMETHING. It keeps the debt debate HOT, it keeps TEA types popular [and hopefully gets many more elected.]

All in all I think if it passes, we keep the House and take the Senate - and better chances at WH. And if it never passes, we lose the House and don't gain the Senate - and poorer chances at WH.

Maybe not such a clear post. But I do agree this bill does not reduce our debt - it increases it. But my reasoning to vote to pass is that it won't be as bad as what we'll get if Obama and Reid take over.

The problem simply doesn't fix itself by stopping the borrowing until nov '12. It only means we do not borrow another 2.4 T _until after the elections_. When those elections hit, it's the whole ball of wax - obamacare, EPA, SS and MC reform/privatization, SCOTUS, etc.
