Here’s a transcript:
Dems: So...where’s your plan?
Repubs: We’ll agree to give you what you want, but you’ll have to agree to stop spending so much.
Dems: Your plan sucks!
Repubs: Ok, then we’ll put forward more of what you want...but still make it appear like we’re doing something for the people...
Dems: Not good enough! Your plans is full of stinky doodoo..
Repubs: Well, where the heck is YOUR plan?
Dems: We don’t need one....you guys are all to blame for everything.
Repubs: Wha? Ok, you guys are lame. We’re not bending anymore, but here’s a plan that will continue to kick the can down the road and pretty much do nothing to change anything...
Dems: You suck! And you’re racist, bigoted, lying, Christmas killers.
Repubs: I’m taking my ball and going home, if you don’t play nice.
Dems: Waaaaah.... Mommy, the republicans hit me....
I just watched the presser..what really pisses me off is the fact that Boehner must have said it’s a “bipartisan bill” a dozen times..despite the fact that Reid and Pelosi have both said that NOT ONE DEM will vote for it..
Egg on my face!
Yes, they probably can’t get enough RINO support for such a ‘poison pill’ then.
More Democrat hyperbole:
Pelosi said this morning that House Republicans were “trying to END ALL LIFE ON EARTH AS WE KNOW IT!”
Dear God, we need a nut doctor on capital hill.
I agree with Rush 99.8 percent of the time, but I think he’s wrong here.
Paul Ryan and Thomas Sowell think the bill is a good thing. I respect both of them on these matters, and Ryan, especially, understands what’s going on in congress.
All these time line scenario are ignoring the right of the GOP Senators to amend whatever the Senate votes on, and they can amend it in a way that Dem Senators up for re-election have to support.
Boehner is playing this well. It will pass the House, but then he can hold it for 24-48 hrs before he provides it to Reid. Reid will lose a lot of options with that time maneuver. Especially with GOP amendments being permitted. Not all will be voted down.
I agree 100%.
Yep. Wile E. Boehner is gonna get rolled.
EVERYONE is missing the proper meme here.
On August 3rd, the BUDGET GETS BALANCED if we don’t extend the Debt limit, whether Democrats like it or not.
And trust me, THEY WILL NOT LIKE IT, since a Democrat without OPM (Other People’s Money) to spend is POWERLESS, and election roadkill to a Conservative.
Those are tears of a good man, Terry. This you should know.....
...and red-state RAT senators will be forced to vote "Yea" to move it along...they, like Obammy, have been able to vote "present" so far. Some will, to their political harm; some will not. Split them instead.
Reid does not have the votes he claims he has; that's why he's been using procedural maneuvers.
No. "Eat your peas" and "Pull off the bandaid" are calls for "necessary" short term pain, in the interest of long term health.
Not that "eat your peas" or "pull off the bandaid" work here (the article of faith is that going deeper in debt improves the health of the nation), just that the phrases aren't as disconnected as your initial posit.
The time line scenarios don't ignore that - the time line applies whether it is the Dems or the GOP trying to amend the bill. And I'm sure Harry has some procedural tricks to try to prevent the GOP from introducing amendments he doesn't want - if not, he sure has the votes to defeat them.
Besides, the Dems have already said that they intend to kill the Boehner bill by tabling it, so any discussion of Reid amending it is moot.
I see this letter and the threats coming from [Charles] Schumer and from [Harry] Reid as bravado. Theyre really worried. They were hoping yesterday that the Republicans in the House would implode they would be suicidal, kill the Boehner plan, and be left with no initiative and be the ones who would take the blame.
Instead it looks as if theres every indication now that the House Republicans are going to get together on this. Theyre going to squeak by, get the required majority, and pass the Boehner plan. That will put the spotlight on the Democrats in the Senate. Then theyre now on the defensive if that happens. The Republicans will seize the initiative. The blame is now shifted entirely onto the Democrats.
Theyre trying to scare the Republicans away with a letter saying it [the Boehner plan] is dead on arrival. Well, its not going to be dead on arrival. What Reid will have to do is to add a curlicue or two, some kind of amendment, something on it [the Boehner plan] so he can at least say its an amalgam, its a compromise between the Reid plan and the Boehner plan, which would allow the Democrats who are going to be up for reelection next year [an out].
The president, who has issued what I think is a phony veto threat Im sure that if it reaches him theres no way hell be able to actually do that.
So that will be the protection. The president will say, Well, there was a compromise, it wasnt the Boehner plan, therefore I can sign it.
Correct. Many posters and Rush do not understand Senate rules. Reid must have 60 to pass anything, and the Senate GOP is not going to allow anything to pass that doesn’t take us closer to Boehner.
If Reid claims obstruction by the GOP over the weekend, it won’t sell. The Senate Dems will be left holding the bag.
I called my Dem senator and the receptionist told me that Senate Dems are getting a huge blowback to Reid’s threat to table Boehner without debate.
That’s true.
Pelosi said this morning that House Republicans were trying to END ALL LIFE ON EARTH AS WE KNOW IT!
OMG!!!
Throw a net over her pronto!
The government has the power to create revenue out of thin air. Its an awesome power, and Congress has it.
FWIW, my initial points were: 1) "originate in the House" is just a matter of procedure, not of substance; and 2) Congress (including the GOP) is not serious about curtailing itself.
LMFAO at this hyperbole:
Nancy Pelosi on today’s vote: “What we’re trying to do is save the world from the Republican budget. We’re trying to save life on this planet as we know it today.”
