Pass the bill and put it in their laps. Then we can beat them up all over gain before the election.

Yep. It's not a perfect bill (hell, it isn't even a good bill). But pass it and force the Dems to not vote for it. It's obvious they are trying to get it voted down so the reid bill will be the only option and we will be forced to deal with it.

No. 3 Dem Compares Debt Limit Increase to Emancipation Proclamation...

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC): “I’ve said time and time again, if the President gets up to August 2nd, without a piece of legislation, he should not allow this country to go into default. He should sign an executive order invoking the 14th Amendment and send that to all the governmental agencies for us to continue to pay our bills. He could do that with a stroke of a pen.

“We’ve seen many big things done in history that way. I joked with my staff the other day, telling what was the bill number of the Emancipation Proclamation, it was an executive order. We integrated the armed services by executive order. We integrated public schools by executive order. Sometimes executives must order that things get done.”

I didn’t see the whole thing, but I was disappointed that no one made the point that the Dems are going to kill this bill strictly for political advantage - just so Obama doesn’t have to deal with this again in an election year. They need to be hammering on the point that Obama is willing to allow the country to default for the sake of his re-election chances, and the Dems in the Senate are helping him.

That would happen with any bill though, not just this one. I don’t see your point. The Democrats would just amend it and send it back regardless.

Rush Limbaugh’s take on this is that if Boehner bill is passed and sent to Senate after all the Dem Senators have already told him they will vote against it, the Dems will then have ammunition to say the Republicans just spent the last couple of crucial days on something that they KNEW would not go through... that the Republicans were being “irresponsible”.

Furthermore, Rush feels if the Boehner bill gets to the Senate (besides being the ammunition for what is described above), he feels Harry Reid will simply turn the Boehner bill into the Reid bill, and then when the Republicans don’t accept it, the Dems will THEN have even more ammunition... ammunition to say the Republicans were the ones who wouldn’t compromise.

If Boehner and his group of like-minded reps think this will look as if they did something and washed their hands of it all by getting this new bill to the Democrats, it looks like they could be sadly mistaken and in fact, as if this could be a spiraling fall to absolute loss of any control what-so-ever.

That was going to happen anyway. You don’t think the Senate will pass the Boehner bill straight do you? What is going to happen is the House will pass Boehner’s plan. The Senate will pass Reid’s plan and it will be reconciled and sent to Obama.

Business leaders air growing unhappiness with Obama
By Dave Boyer - The Washington Times

As the economic recovery stalls and the debt debate in Washington fuels market uncertainty, business leaders — many of whom were once close to the White House — are increasingly airing their fears that President Obama’s policies are stifling job creation. Published 11:47 a.m. July 28, 2011

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jul/28/business-leaders-air-growing-unhappiness-obama/

At a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday, Kimberly-Clark Corp. Chairman and CEO Thomas J. Falk said the administration’s proposal to raise the tax on foreign earnings of American-based firms “would put U.S. companies at a significant disadvantage.”

The move “would slow economic growth in the U.S. and impede the creation of U.S.-based jobs,” Mr. Falk said.

Leaders in the oil and gas industry say the administration could clear the way for the creation of thousands of domestic jobs if it weren’t beholden to environmentalists. As one example, they point to the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, a massive construction project that has been awaiting approval since Mr. Obama took office. The pipeline would run from Alberta, Canada, to Houston, Texas.

“If you’re looking for revenue and jobs, it’s on your desk, Mr. President,” said Jack Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, in a recent interview with The Washington Times.

We don’t have to deal with Reid’s bill spending bills thus debt bills originate in the house not the senate. Frankly Reid’s bill like the man himself is insulting.

Just wait until you see the amended Boehner bill that Reid and Co. dump back on our laps. Then what?

We get our heads handed to us by a Conference Committee.

Then it goes to reconciliation conference.

But don’t think a pure Reid bill comes back to the House. The GOP could filibuster such a thing.

What comes back will be closer to the House bill than Reid’s.

The oblivious public needs to be pounded over and over with the FACT that the GOP are STILL the only ones to have voted on and not 1, but soon to be 2 pieces of legislation, while Zero and the RATS have produced absolutely NOTHING with any true substance.

Also, since the Zero and the RATS are still getting away with saying it’s the GOP who’s refusing to compromise and the MSM are still framing it that way, is there any doubt the the RATS planned this all out?

The Senate will pass Reid’s plan and it will be reconciled and sent to Obama.

Reid can't even get his own bill passed the Senate he controls, so no, I don't think things are going to go down quite that way.

Notice ole' Harry hasn't even brought his bill up yet? He doesn't have the votes for it.

I read this morning where dem senators wrote and signed a letter and sent it to Boehner saying that they were prepared to let the default happen. WTH did Boehner not mention that since the dems were taking credit for the coming default he wanted to make sure the voting public was aware of who owned the default? These GOP idiots can’t make hay with cut grass and sunshine.
