(CNN) -- Texas police arrested a U.S. soldier who went AWOL this month after being charged with possessing child pornography, a Defense Department official told CNN Thursday.
Pfc. Naser Abdo was assigned to Fort Campbell in Kentucky but was arrested in Killeen, Texas, near Fort Hood, the military base where a 2009 shooting spree left 13 people dead and 32 others wounded.

Official: Bomb materials found in soldier’s room near Fort Hood
Agree with you and thanks for the last line chuckle...but deadly true.
I’d be okay with removing all Muslims from any combat-related positions and preventing them from having any access to weaponry.
The military needs to walk a fine line when it comes to Muslims. The good ones can be valuable assets and the bad ones are traitorous nightmares and we should consult the Israeli military for additional assistance in determining which is which.
I predicted Achmed, Hakim, and Muhammad as names.
I wasn't far off.

I agree. I would also like to see Sr NCOs and Officers allowed to carry side arms on duty. It might prevent an incident and it would probably cut one very short if it started.
I hope to goodness that they learned their lesson at FT Hood in case another nut-job stars shooting our service men and women there. Surely there is someone armed and available at all times to shoot back!
Again, the upper brass gave this guy CO status and let remain in the military.
We get another massacre like 2009 and some in the service will likely take action themselves.
Most bases have rules against having firearms on post by personnel. We had the head of the State Marksmanship Team get his vehicle checked and he had military and personal firearms in his vehicle. He had to have his supervisor tell the guards it was OK for him to transport them onto the base.
I’m still hoping that they have figured out that it is a bad idea not to have someone armed and capable of defending them in the event of another attack............
I know they are addressing the CCW issue here, since the department and the Marksmanship Team give the classes.
