wise up. toady.
Now now, stop behaving like a childish little prick.........I merely offered my opinion, no need for you to go personal. One would have hoped your mother taught you better manners than that..or did you talk to her like that too?

Well it’s mighty damn obvious many “Police” don’t mind sacrificing any aspect of safety for Patriots.
Tell me...how do you rationalize “innocent until proven guilty” when deception is often integral to building a prosecution? Doesn’t lying and or psychological manipulation of a suspect for the purpose of gathering evidence presuppose guilt by definition?
To: brent13a
Sounds like an issue with your neighborhood watch compadres and not so much the local police. Unless they are they type that will follow any order (short of being an "exact replica of the Nazi SS") to avoid rocking the boat...

Oh please, save your “little girl” hyperbole for those aren’t smart enough to make an honest living, and other cops.
Show me a cop who sympatizes with those of us who DONT operate under the color of authority, and I’ll show you a cop who doesn’t catch attitude from FReepers.

However, I think that this would be an act best done in a setting conducive to all peoples involved. Like at a 2nd Amendment Rally where everyone knows what is going on and whats up. Randomly doing this down a street, looking for a confrontation with ANY police officer has a high probability that the act isn't going to end up being conducive for that person or their movement.
And in the end, you might be able to carry it 'open' but you still can't use it. Up here in MT open carry means loaded and ready for bear... And I CAN use it.
Somehow, our LEOs manage to survive without any bother to citizens... And they tend to be polite, too.
I think the whole 'how to handle a citizen who is packing' thing is best answered by looking at places where open carry has always been on the books, and see how those locales interact with citizens. A sheriff or warden here is absolutely guaranteed to run into armed citizenry, and will probably be alone and far from other LEOs when he does so. His best and closest ally is quite likely to be an armed citizen. No offense meant, but that is how it should be everywhere.

so the officer disarmed the citizen,
took the citizen’s name when there was no crime.
it still seems too much.

Bla, bla, bla, Mr. Keyboard Warrior. Youd never spew this crap to a real cop/soldiers face so I pay you no mind. And neither would you if you didn't have a badge to hide behind...which is why you earn such contempt from one of the brightest, most patriotic, and moral sites on the internet.

Agreed, 110%. A lot of people don't realize that getting to that point doesn't happen over night though.

I've taken my badge off my uniform three times when requested. I've also locked up my sidearm as well. The other officer present either stepped away or stepped back. You know what happened?
Mr./Mrs. BigMouth shut up and hunched over and started behaving because all they got is a big mouth.
Come to the town my PD is in and call my bluff. I'm willing to take ass-beating because I don't hide behind anything.

I can only imagine what it will be like in states like NY,NJ,and MD when they are forced to become shall issue states. The cops are going to be running all over the place responding to “man with a gun” calls, because some soccer mom got into a hissy fit seeing Mr. Soandso at his kids game openly carrying a J-frame.

Were you on duty, and responding to a verbally belligerent citizen?

Agreed, 110%. A lot of people don't realize that getting to that point doesn't happen over night though.I will grant you that - to a point. I was born in Chicago, and have many ties (both family and otherwise) there. My family, almost without exception, has packed there as long as I can remember. Service trucks, tow trucks, and etc... If you do business out of a truck in the city of Chicago and do *not* carry, you are not only the exception, but an idiot as well.
My point being that you would be surprised how many cars you might stop have a .38 or .357 under the seat- smart citizens are already packing there - in complete violation of the law (because the laws are bullsh*t). And one officer at least was VERY grateful that my uncle was packing one particular day.
Those citizens are ALREADY there, and always have been there. They are not the problem. They are no threat to you, any more than I am a threat to a cop up here.
It is how YOU (y'all) address such things that is the major modification.

Whatever, dude. I serve my City and I serve my Country. The last thing I need is the approval of faceless, wannabe tough guys who's panties are in a twist because they got a speeding ticket they just know they didn't deserve.
I'd tell you my view of the 2nd and concealed carry, but people like you will simply twist it into yet another diatribe of how we live in a police state and how I'll get my come-uppins one day in the near future. It's gotten old. And don't you dare sully FR's good name by associating it with people who call cops Nazi's and jack-booted thugs. Unless that's who you want to represent this site.

To: brent13a
You might have impressed me if you HAD taken an ass beating with that routine. At least that would have indicated a legitimate risk.
As it stands, I would bet a months pay you were utterly convinced of your ability to control the situation when you “took your badge off three times” because you evince being such a puss with a hypothetical armed citizen.
Anyone who who says they don’t hide behind anything is either a liar or a fool.
To: Cboldt
Were you on duty, and responding to a verbally belligerent citizen?
Well, I don't hang out at the McDonald's in my uniform when I'm off duty, so yes, I was on duty.
Of the three times:
Twice the person was under arrest and yanking at his hand cuffed to the bench threatening me and my family and spitting at me.
The other time the person was locked in a holding cell banging on the door and toilet threatening me and my family and spitting at me.
All three times they stated that they would kick my ass if I didn't have a badge and a gun. All three times I obliged them and them let them loose and like I stated, they didn't have the fortitude to follow through.

Interesting but not unsual stories about drunks and belligerants. Your conduct while on duty strikes me as unprofessional.
