My emphasis] that, in fact, they would then have to call a second physician to monitor and check off and make sure that this is not a live child that could be saved."This ghoulish statement is located on page 32 of the transcript, which can be read here: State of Illinois/92nd General Assembly/Regular Session/Senate Transcript/April 4, 2002 On the basis of the scenario he describes, Obama goes on to argue that calling in another physician would in effect "burden the original decision" of the mother and doctor, and that therefore, the bill should not be passed. Words fail me.....
