This war veterans puppy may have been only six months old at the time, but she certainly knew what needed to be done when her owner was in danger.
Dave Sharpe, of Arlington, Virginia, was suffering with severe post-traumatic stress disorder when he decided to put a pistol in his mouth and commit suicide.
But his pit bull Cheyenne saw him crying with the gun in his mouth and licked his ear, convincing Mr Sharpe he had something to live for.

Happy to hear of it. Thanks.
What a good story. Thanks!
The Sidebar Moderator was on top of that. That’s why no “dogdoggie” from my “dog doggie”.
For some weird reason, the Viking Kitties fulminate at “keyword abuse.” That was why I was so diligent to ask that the error be corrected.
Our cold, sterile scientists would have it that a creature called a Miacis appeared, and henceforth evolved bears, raccoons, walrus, seals, cats, ... and dogs. Without having any idea where it was going. Though it didn’t do too bad with dog, and maybe cat. A Miacis would have been a gnarly animal to try to tame. Had any humans existed at the time, that is.
I give more credence to the God-&-doG theory.
Steam? I thought that was smoke coming from the little booger.
Okay, it’s smoke, HiTech. Regardless, don’t get burned! ;-)
They're not very consistent about that though. I've seen them complain about perfectly legitimate keywords and there are an awful lot of threads with tons of junk keywords. That's too bad that people do that because keyword archiving here is a very powerful function that few if any other websites have. Junk keywords don't really hurt much except that they make finding the useful ones difficult on a given thread.
I thought you wanted "dogdoggie" in the keywords. I guess I misunderstood what you were saying.
But his pit bull Cheyenne saw him crying with the gun in his mouth and tore his throat out and buried him in the back yard.
That will make some people happy.
Spewing BS makes some people happy.
Our Golden/Lab mix has play dates with our friend’s pit bull terrier mix all the time and it is one of the most affectionate dogs I have ever known.
She (the pit bull mix) is an attention-hog, loves to be petted, listens well to commands, and will make you wet with drool because it wants to lick you all the time. Then, it wants to lay in your lap and get its belly rubbed.
Just because a dog may be a pit bull or has pit bull blood, doesn’t automatically make it a killer.
Visiting YouTube and searching for both cat and pitbull will turn up a nice group of excruciatingly cute videos where the pitbull and the cat are snuggling and playing together to music.
My old girl... a labrador , just turned 10 this spring and I can see signs of her slowing down. It’s heart breaking. She will get up on the bed, but a couple of minutes later, she is down on the floor beside the bed. Up for bathroom...she’s there. And so is my 7 year old labrador. No matter where I am, Ellie and Holly are with me. It gets annoying at times but I’d not have it any other way. Well, only that they’d quit snoring so darn loud or that Holly wouldnt steal the pillows and blankets.
Yeah, my monitor is getting a little blurry as well.....
Amen on the “every day is a blessing”.....
