This war veteran’s puppy may have been only six months old at the time, but she certainly knew what needed to be done when her owner was in danger.

Dave Sharpe, of Arlington, Virginia, was suffering with severe post-traumatic stress disorder when he decided to put a pistol in his mouth and commit suicide.

But his pit bull Cheyenne saw him crying with the gun in his mouth and licked his ear, convincing Mr Sharpe he had something to live for.

Really, really nice story, but a year later the dog would have bitten his damned ear off...

Once again a dog is a guardian angel.

God put dogs on this earth for a purpose.

I farged up by mistake in the keyword page and “dog doggie” registered as “dogdoggie”. Can this be corrected please. Also this touching story might have a place in the sidebar....

My cats keep me from despair — they always care whether there’s somebody there to feed them, and to jump on with claws out when he’s trying to sleep in the bed.

Our cat hates me - sortof. If I try to pet her, sit down on the couch, etc. she takes off. In the last two years however she has jumped up on me twice to snuggle. Once laying on the couch waiting to go to the ER for a bad injury to get checked on, and the other time in bed with a real bad case of the flu. Weirdest thing.

If all you’ve got to live for is a pit bull, might as well squeeze the trigger... KIDDING! ( I know, I’ll get flamed anyway.)

I used to have a big black female cat named Isis who would lay on the bed with me when I was sick and wouldn’t leave me.

Well that is an amazingly intelligent and perceptive dog. I understand it actually took the time to unplug the soldering iron it was using to repair the clock/radio before walking over and interrupting its owner’s suicide attempt.
