WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's advisers would recommend that he veto a bill authored by House Speaker John Boehner to cut government spending and raise the debt ceiling in two stages, the White House said Tuesday. The House is expected to vote on the Republican bill on Wednesday.

That was my solution except you tell them this is a colassal waste of time like they did...adjourn the house and call Harry Reid and announce the House is in recess until after Labor Day...let Obama try to veto that...
Freegards,
Lex
What’s the “Default Date” now, August 8th? Pass the House bill to the senate the day before. See if Obama has the stones to veto it.
Urkel’s threat of veto sounds way too much like “Please don’t throw me into the briar patch!”
I’m a little confused....I thought the plan that Boehner is pushing a vote on is also opposed by House conservatives.
(Surely House conservatives and Obama are not both opposed to Boehner...that would be....awkward).
Have I missed something?
HR 2402 Prioritize Spending Act of 2011 was introduced in the House on June 24, 2011 and languishes in the Ways and Means Committee.
HR 2402 would eliminate Obamas ability to threaten to not pay the interest on the debt, the military, Social Security, and Medicare. This bill would take away th Dems most powerful bargaining tool; their ability to not pay these things and blame Republicans.
It needs to be passed immediately. Dare Democrats to vote against it.

Unfortunately I'm seeing a lot of hate for Boehner right here on FR too.
Very sad.
That works for me fo not bother with inflation.
Exactly—The DIMS have been trying to beat something with nothing this whole time. (Unfortunately, the Pubbies have been accomodating them in this.)
Those of us who make the country work have wised-up and can see what’s going on.
Remember that Obama said he wanted to "reinvent" the economy, and pay attention to Kucinich's plan (announced today) to have the gov't invest (aka "own") businesses, and you soon realize that you have to tear down what is already here before you can reinvent. This insane, anal president is hell bent on his marxist agenda. To him, conservatives are merely a challenge to brush off, not to work with.

Yep. The GOP needs to hammer away at this.
"Do you feel lucky punk? Go ahead, make my day."
Then he will prove that HE is the stubborn one.
Democrats - the party of MO!
MO spending, MO debt, MO taxes
If it is in the House the GOP should just pass it, they control the House. No hammering needed unless the GOP is gutless.
Hell, it's there . . that's Zero's re election stash.
The man is a megalomaniacal tyrant who hasn’t the slightest grasp of how a Republic is ment to operate.
Considering his questionable origin and background, its hardly surprising.
Short of impeaching the bastard, the GOP should stick to its guns - present THEIR budget - the Constitutional Function of the House, and if he chooses to veto it, let his administration live with the consequences.
Obvious obama wants this country to crash.
John Boehner needs to call a press conference and say the following:
Legislation originates in the house. The senate, Americas version of the House of Lords, needs to advise the president on appointees, and consent if they agree, and ratify treaties. Otherwise shut the hell up and let us REAL legislators do our jobs.
Revenues! We call it taxes but why quibble over semantics?
Obvious question: Are there enough votes to override his veto?
It is a colossal waste of time. Boner needs to figure out he is negotiating with himself at this point. He also needs some lessons in negotiating. The democraps negotiate like the Russians.....take an unreasonable and wait for the other side to come to them. It is time for the Republican congress to negotiate the same. The position should be...”We passed a bill and sent it to you. You table it and threaten to veto it. Knock yourself out, the crash is on you”!. Quit playing their damn game!!!!!!!..red
