Six-year-old Lucy Mangum isn't taking personally a shark bite she suffered as she played in the water off Ocracoke Island last week.

"Last night, we were chatting about it and she said, 'I don't care that the shark bit me, I forgive him,' " Lucy's mother, Jordan, told Ann Curry this morning during NBCs "Today" show.

The girl's parents held a press conference and appeared with her on national TV this morning at PItt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville to talk about the ordeal. Lucy, who has undergone treatment for the wound, is expected to undergo physical therapy and make a full recovery, her parents said this morning.

Wow....amazing story, and what a sweet little girl. She’s got a great attitude. I’m glad that she’s going to be okay.

We’d only need to exterminate three or four species of sharks and there would never be another attack on a human. That would include whites, hammerheads, tigers, and the bull shark. The balance of nature wouldn’t miss any of those any more than it misses the tyrannosaur.

No doubt there would be a project to
“Save the Tyrannosaur!” with little plush
stuffed tyrannosaurs and adopt-a-Saur bumper
stickers. People throwing themselves in front
of D-9s, and Harrassing Congressmen to “DO SOMETHING!”.

Then the President would proclaim 18 million acres
the National Tyrannosaur Preserve, at least until
they began to breed in large numbers and begin to
eat rural populations, then Congress would have to
“DO Something!” about that. Probably live trapping,
then neutering and declawing, etc.
