You’ll have to vote for it so you can see what’s in it.

Gives Barky spending money to carry his skinny butt through the 2012 election cycle

And yes, no doubt any real cuts will be “deferred”

He and David Wu use the same campaign tactics, spend your way into congress.

They both disgust me.

The "cuts" are a) reductions in the rate of spending growth and b) cessation of spending on Iraq and Afghanistan. Totally bogus. Totally. It's going nowhere. The House won't touch this.

If Boehner's plan from today won't fly - guess what? Back to CCB which has already passed the House and is awaiting a vote in the Senate. It WILL pass if voted on.

The CBO has yet to score on the "cuts" from military spending.

But the fact that they are now proposing along the lines of what Boehner-Cantor have wanted all along i.e. MORE cuts than the debt hike shows that the debate is now squarely on our turf.

Agreed. And I think Reid is trying to inch slowly in our direction to get Boehner to commit to something less than we could get.

They fear CCB. I really think that's the endgame - get Boehner to commit to something less than CCB.

For Beohner, well he's doing very well I won't guess what he's up to for an end game but i hope it's CCB

But one Democratic source, who has been a witness to negotiations, says that Medicaid, at the very least, will not be touched under the Reid plan, The Huff Post reports.

Republicans have responded by saying that Reid is giving Obama a “blank check” to raise the debt ceiling.

Earlier today President Obama spoke to the National Council of La Raza saying “we can’t just close our deficits by cutting spending. … Not only is it not fair if all of this is done on the backs of middle-class families and poor families, it doesn’t make sense. It may sound good to save a lot of money over the next five years, but not if we sacrifice our future for the next fifty.”

The Reid plan contains no tax increases. Carney today said it would “make a meaningful down payment in addressing our fiscal challenge, and we could continue to work together to build on it with a balanced approach to deficit reduction that includes additional spending reforms and closing tax loopholes for corporations, millionaires and billionaires. “
